Pomona High School Ratings & Reviews

I would totally not recommend going to school here. The teachers are amazingly horrible and there are only few good ones. The stress and work load is incredibly horrible and many students stay up past midnight just because of how much work the teachers expect us to do, not only do teachers do this but they also think that their class is the center of the universe and often forget that we have 6 others classes. You would expect the arts to be thriving in this school since Pomona lables itself as an "arts based school" but in all reality they got rid of all of these programs and teachers just because they say that they don't have enough funding but the truth is they put thousands of dollars into sports every single year, and Pomona also pours their money into buying large flat screen tv's all around the school and classrooms but some classrooms have 20 year old textbooks and old equipment. Not are teachers bad but the students think that they are entitled to always get their way. Also administration is just as horrible or even worse than the teachers here. Most days you will here students saying that they wish they were at home sleeping or just not at school. My only positive for Pomona is their choir and theatre program, there you feel excepted by everyone and supported.

I attended this school all four years and have absolutely nothing bad to say. Pomona helped me find a sense of belonging that wasn't sports. Pomona also helped prepare me for college. This school is a great school and I highly reccoemnd it. Give Pomona a chance and let it help you find your place! :)

I have 2 children attending Pomona and both constantly tell me how horrible the school is. The electives are very limited, most teachers are horrible (one teacher's approach is to let the students read in the textbook during class, if they have a questions, she does not know the answer), the administration a joke and incompetent. The staff is rude and unwilling to help. Every time I walk into the school's office I feel unwelcome like an intruder.

I think I should give fair warning if you're looking at this school...I found it to be so terrible that I had to write a review which is something I usually do not find myself doing often.First off, the first week I attended this school I wanted to switch, nfortantly my parents wouldn't let me...and I know its because thats where they went to highschool. Then it might have been a good school but...time certainly changed things!(and not for better). One thing that is annoying for me was that I didn't classes I requested or signed up for-they fit the classes to accmodate the teachers not the students, they have very small rooms with student bunched together and I don't blive the building has had any work done since the 80's. Then the teachers...most of them where students there and so I think thats how they get there jobs teaching there...some of the teachers are great, some of thm are down right horrible too(buuut I guess same goes for alot of schools right?). And last the peer pressure to do drugs at this school was extreamly high. You might also think thats normal but here..no much worse,if you don't want your children trying extasy don't send them here please.
