My experience with this school has been astounding. It is a 5-star school. It is clean, safe, & welcoming. It is in the top 1% of High Schools in the U.S. ranked #172 out of over 23,000 High Schools nationally by U.S. News & World Report.

Athletic programs are packed with bullies. Aquatic coaches are also really bad. They pick favorites and completely disregard others and even those who get bullied on the team. Dont even get me started on the teachers. I am very surprised that such a financially gifted school cant use their money to get a semi-decent teacher. And when people say the teachers here are bad they mean it. Only thing good is that the campus is architecturally nice, but give it five years or so and things will start to deescalate.

I am paraphrasing a review left on 9/18/13 because I agree wholeheartedly with it. The majority of the teachers at YLHS are outstanding. I had one child graduate two years ago and have two others that are currently enrolled. One of them is special needs. The teachers have been very helpful to my special needs student and the few episodes of bullying he encountered were immediately responded to by the staff. There is also a vast offering of coursework from the arts to college prep, honors and AP classes. The student counselors do a terrific job of keeping the parents and students informed about what is needed and what options there are for continuing on to college. My oldest attended Esperanza HS for one semester. The school environment was very depressing and many of the teachers seemed to not like their job. Some of the office staff we found to be rude and unhelpful. By the end of the first semester we pulled her out and home schooled her until the choice transfer was approved for YLHS. The difference between the two schools was like night and day.

This school has a few to many bullys! The principle and staff need to address this. my child and friends tell me stories all the time. As a parent i want to go to the school and let them know but with bullys these days, its to scary! Security seams to stop the fights but they need to take it a step further and help stop it between the kids for the future. i hope this message get to the school and they take it serious.

Let's set aside for a minute the entitled students and rate this school on the teachers and their effectiveness. The teachers are said to have been "hand-picked" and the majority of them are outstanding. There is a vast offering of coursework from the arts to college prep, honors and AP classes. Counselors there do a terrific job of keeping the demanding parent population informed. It's a testament to this school district that magnet schools - started by dissatisfied public school parents - are nowhere near. The reviews that rate this school with one star...really? These teachers deserve more dignity than that.
