As a graduate of the first graduating class, I am glad to say that my alma mater has made my academic career quite successful. I have received my Master's degree (as well as my B.A) by age 22, and am currently working a career job. I can say that the professionalism that HTPA teaches goes a long way, as I was one of the few students that went to college already knowing what to expect from the college environment. I was prepared, and excelled. I suggest sending your child here if you want them to be successful, disciplined academically, mature, and focused. Being a little school eliminates most of the high school drama (drugs, bullying, etc), because the kids bond and develop close relationships with each other and staff. Great school. Great concept. Great Teachers. Could improve in sports, as well as talented and gifted programs :)

All I can comment on is the administration, which seems to be lacking... for over two years I have had to complain about messages left on my answering machine about a child I don't have either missing classes or having detention. Despite multiple conversations with their staff, the problem has yet to be remedied. That such a small detail cannot be fixed- which does affect this school's relationship with the family, as it is not aware of the child's absences/detentions- does not instill any confidence in any of the school's other responsibilities.

Great students. Great Teachers. Awful Principal that takes too much credit for the work the dedicated teachers do. I am a graduate that is now at one of the best 4-year universities in the state of California. I can honestly say that my success was due to the dedicated Teachers not at all to the Principal who made certain aspects of high school miserable.

HTPA is not for everyone. The students here are extremely motivated and must find this motivation within themselves in order to accomplish what the school offers; earning an AA degree and a great education. The teachers here care a lot about the students well being, both personal and academic. Being such a small school, everyone is also able to get to know each other very well and as a result one is able to make some life long friendships. Students here can accomplish anything they set their minds too. The graduating class of 2008, which consisted of about 65, had 6 students accepted to UC Berkeley, 10 to UCLA, 1 Harvard, and many other universities. In addition, more than half of the graduating class received there AA degree.

This may be a highschool in which a student can graduate with a AA and HS diploma but there are a good portion of students who do not achieve this. Many students loiter around the comunity college(CC) campus and for two hours in the morning (since school starts at 10 am) wasting valuable education time. The language courses are all offered through the CC and if the parent does not have a WIDE open schedule the childs choices become very limited. This also applies for higher level math courses, english courses & for that matter the courses necessary for the child to receive their AA. The parents role is very important & the child depends on strong involvement when the scheduling of CC courses are involved; my daughter took many afternoon classes that ended at 9:15pm, sat. classes, & summer classes. I saw many parents and students fall short here.
