If you are a working parent, this will not be a good fit for you. (And how can you afford the tuition if you don’t work??) Although this school is all about the money, not even that helps working parents. Stay-at-home parents run the board and make all the decisions. New this year: Parents can’t even ask to be a chaperone on their child’s field trip unless they volunteer at certain school-day activities. That automatically cuts out working folks. Every time my daughter brings home paperwork from the school, it is another fundraiser, and the school never tells us where the money goes. We are now averaging 3-4 fundraisers EVERY MONTH! Constant nickel and diming, and nothing to show for it. And I’m still not sure why the tuition is as high as it is. Parents were told one of the fundraisers was to get the money to clean out the air ducts in the classrooms. Shouldn’t this be part of regular upkeep, and not a special need? Communication is nonexistent. I keep emailing the teacher, but she never responds. The quality of the education and programs here is sub-par. I had to hire a tutor for my older child who graduated here, because he struggled in high school. I will be moving my daughter to a charter or magnet school next year.

Terrible. It used to be such a good school. But the past few years, it has steadily gone toward being a school geared toward raising money constantly, and parents are never told where all the money goes. There are multiple fundraisers every month, and this is in addition to two large fundraisers, a $400 fundraising obligation, 40 hours of volunteering (which is very hard to do as a working parent), and higher tuition and fees. What has happened to St. Rose?

It is so sad what has happened to this school. Other than the few great teachers they have managed to hold on to, the school has become a poor example of a private school education. Many kids who graduate or go on from this school need to get tutors to get by in other middle schools and high schools, whether public or private. There are many gaps in learning, and the administration is not interested in improving the programs. They are only interested in cutting costs. Moreover, they have constant fundraisers, and parents are never informed what the fundraisers are for, how much money is raised, or where the money goes. I see hands out all the time asking for more money, with so many different fundraisers, often multiple fundraisers per week. Tuition, fees, and all costs have gone up, but quality of programs has greatly decreased, and the facilities are run down. It makes me wonder where all the money goes. Also, many subpar teachers have been brought on, and are staying. The teaching assistants, who used to be credentialed, are now just present and past parents. Class sizes have been dwindling, as parents have been discovering that the quality of the education is spiraling downward. It's a shame that this school has gone this direction. I won't be sending my children back.

My kids are still in St. Rose. The tuition is reasonable compared to other private schools and I still believe in a way they are still a better alternative to public schools

This was a very disappointing Catholic school experience. Never again will I subject my child to an environment filled with such horrible kids, and teachers who just don't have a passion for teaching. I'm happy my child is currently in a school filled with teachers who genuinely love teaching, and where character, compassion, and integrity is taught by the parents, and reinforced by the school. Yes, a wonderful public school. My child is currently surrounded by wonderful kids of all ages and backgrounds who have respect for one another, and are kind and respectful. Do yourself and your child a favor: Stay away from St. Rose! If you're looking for a faith based education, send your child to a good public school and be your own child's catechist! Another solution is homeschooling!
