Wallenberg (Raoul) Traditional High School Ratings & Reviews

I'm an adult and work nearby to this school. Frequently the students from this school leave for lunch and terrorize the nearby Target store in groups and the Subway restaurant as well. Today at Subway, three Latino girls went in and began stealing food. When approached, they just stood there eating and calling out the owner. A woman and her small child had to witness their foul language and the police had to be called. I followed them back to the Raoul Wallenberg School, even though I knew where they were going. Really sad that a high school is churning out this kind of lawless disrespect. Good luck finding jobs, ladies, you'll need it.

Graduated class of 1993. During my time at Wallenberg the school earned a Distinguished School reputation. A large plaque was even posted outside; it has since been removed. Sadly it appears enough of the entering students do not respect their own education. Yes there are good teachers, staff and students; however, like many public schools a few bad apples exist.

Very troubling. Poor transparency, abysmal communication, high staff turnover. Not to be recommended under current leadership.

"During my freshman year, things were acceptable, but through my last 3 years, this school is worst than I thought. However, they have challenging AP teachers who were willing to help and were great teachers. Butalso as a student-athlete at Wallenberg, the sports program became messed up, especially the girls varsity team after my freshman year. In 2015, a new coach was hired, and the team was allowed ""at least 3 practices a week"" and the coach always doesn't bring balls, and cancels 5 hours before or even ends 45 min early. After talking to the sports department, they didn't do a single action, except use the extra gym time for the boys varsity. Their sports system favor boys more than girls, and is extremely unfair. Despite that, the facility in this school is nice and clean, and safe. I would recommend this school to students who don't really like a challenging academic program but will meet some wonderful AP teachers."

This review is not recent. In fact, this may be more than 10 years overdue. However, as a student at Wallenberg, due to its small nature, there were in fact many social pressures. As an adult I am learning that this is true in the workforce as well. I don't believe this ever changes. I would say that Wallenberg had some wonderful teachers during my time and coaches on sports teams that cared very much about the student's well being. In fact, Patrick Mulligan is still there and an asset to Wallenberg.
