Really remarkable place. Very happy with our experience here; wish it would continue through High School.

lower school (K-5) is solid, would send my kids there again, no doubt. Very well organizedmiddle school is very much a work in progress, I wish they could get their act together and focus on the things that matter, not the things that show off well: great chemistry lab, but 25 kids in class with one teacher? the 6th grade math teacher is the single driver of attrition, 6 kids leaving each of the last two years;

There is a review from 2015 about CAIS vs. FAIS, and how standards between the two schools are very different. This review is completely right on. FAIS students seem to actually use and be proficient in French, whereas CAIS students are barely scratching the surface of the Chinese language. (Or culture, for that matter.) There is a big difference between learning Chinese as a fad, to be able to sound 'cool' when you can order dishes at a Chinese restaurant, and to be truly knowledgeable of the culture as well as to use the language proficiently. CAIS is a fun exclusive playgrounds for those families who want the former, but not for those seeking the latter.

This school is sick. The graduation ceremony is too long though. Class of 2016 FTW.

While the education was great, the teachers were not always respectful or fair to the children in the way they talked to them. It was a very harsh social environment all the way through middle school. When there was bullying or someone was having an issue, it was dealt with strict consequences, which made all the students scared and it did not allow them to understand why what they did was wrong. Being an alum, I wish I had a safer social environment because there were too many times where I did not feel I was being heard or helped when something was wrong between other kids or a teacher. CAIS has a great Chinese language program, but lacks in the English department. It would be beneficial if more time was spent on teaching students how to write and express their creative side.
