Buena Vista/ Horace Mann K-8 Ratings & Reviews

My first language is Spanish, but my academic Spanish is non-existent, so we wanted academic Spanish for our child and were willing to let the English go. What we have found is that there is almost no academics in any language. When kids get to high school they are no better off in Spanish than students who went to English Schools and did a Spanish Program on the computer. We do care about civil rights, and equity, but we found that here it's used as a diversion tactic to not address the problems that come from several years of very poor leadership and neglecting the basic needs of running a school. We are sad to be leaving, but we have no choice.

Overall, a huge disappointment. Along with many other 4th graders (incoming 5th) we decided to cut out losses and leave. Yes, other schools have similar student populations and problems, but at BVHM there is a sense of constant upheaval, there is always some scandal or disaster. The administration cannot deal with the basic task of running the school so when faced with any additional issue, everything crumbles. The ones who end up paying are the students. It's chaotic and unproductive.

Total dumpster fire of a school. Teachers have priorities other than academic excellence.

Okay school if the student is not very advanced or needs to learn Spanish/English. Otherwise, CONSIDER APPLYING ELSEWHERE.

Sad waste of time. Mass exodus leaving every year. They don't even follow their own immersion model.
