We've been delighted with our RVA experience. This hidden gem of a school is an incredible option for a gifted child because of the stellar teachers who care deeply about the students, small class sizes, individualized & hands-on teaching approach, and mixed age classes that create role model opportunities. Our very bright 5 yr old son struggled to stay on task in a typical school environment where he was not engaged. Though he loved learning, he became less and less excited about school. Since switching to RVA, we've seen him become a happier and more balanced child who loves going to school.RVA is unlike any school I've ever seen before. The environment is filled with different areas for exploration without much of a classroom feel, which is admittedly a bit disconcerting at first visit. Once you get a sense of what the school is trying to accomplish, it all makes sense and the quirkiness is delightful.RVA's structure includes standard academic subjects, though taught using a multidisciplinary approach. An incredible set of activities supplement the academic curriculum, including karate, piano, sign language, cooking, art, choir and more. The director maintains a dizzying array of teaching materials, books, educational games, sports equipment, and artifacts, which she uses to bring her teaching to life. Formerly a celebrated public school teacher, she clearly loves the opportunity to make a big difference in the lives of gifted children by offering a school designed for their unique needs. The teacher for the younger children is equally incredible and the two complement each other well.We feel lucky to have found an environment that celebrates the unique profile of a gifted child, who could otherwise become discouraged and disengaged in a traditional classroom setting. We're also impressed daily by the individual coaching and attention the teachers provide for the students - in the first week I got more feedback about my child than I had in an entire school year. That ongoing dialogue is invaluable in knowing how my child is progressing and in understanding how we can work together to help give him opportunities to grow. We can't wait until our younger child can experience RVA!

RVA teachers and administrators understand the academic and social needs of my children, grades 2-6. The staff's educational expertise has been invaluable for my kids' growth in many areas. RVA has taught my highly-independent 6th grader to become more of a team collaborator. My compliant and mostly-reserved 4th grader has learned to speak up in class discussions and take initiative to take charge of her learning. My high-spirited 2nd grader has been given the tools to better focus on reading, math and other class activities. My spouse and I are so grateful to RVA for challenging and empowering our GATE identified kids and non-identified child to the appropriate levels of their abilities.

Both of our kids are enrolled in this school and have been for several years. We are pleased with the schedule, curriculum, staff and facilities. It is ideal for working parents and there are many activities that you cannot find in most schools (large or small), such as martial arts, piano, art, cooking, gardening and more.

My son went to Renaissance Village Academy for 2 years, and loved it. RVA is truely the school you wish you could of gone to as a child. My son loved all the activities like drama, karate, weekly gardening, learning Russian and even a fun river rafting adventure. My son would still be going there had it gone through High School. Learning at RVA is fun, yet challenging I highly reccomend checking out their website and visiting one of their many free events or open houses http://rva.us.com/.

Our son attends RVA & we couldn't be happier with this decision. Education at RVA is about the whole child, not about teaching to a test. Having a place where he can feel part of a group of like minded students has done wonders. Karate, drama, organic gardening, field trips & more add to the classroom lessons. Our son has found a love of gardening he never had before as a result of their weekly garden work. I strongly encourage anyone to contact our director, Miss Nancy, with questions and to set up a time to come visit. This is truly a one of a kind experience where our son can be all that he can be.
