Trinity School Ratings & Reviews

Excellent - my children had an wonderful experience- they were ready for middle school and beyond.

Terrible. So much so that in the 2 years we were there three teachers left. One abruptly we were told by one of the teachers that she left because the parents and the admin were “horrible”. All the 5 stars is because the school will get your kid in any school they want even when your kid doesn’t have the grades. They aren’t doing these kids any favors. Good luck.

Trinity is a great school for the right kind of children. The head of school, the academic dean, and the director of admission are caring. They did grade acceleration, observed new students, and knew every child by name. Some teachers are wonderful. Our homeroom teacher was dedicated and loved jokes, but was not warm. This might work well for most children, but our young child did better with a more nurturing, sensitive teacher. They didn't allow parents to observe their kids for whatever reasons ("We're not an open school," said the front desk staff.) The teacher didn't show us in-class math assessments despite repeated requests. Also, a child's seating was not negotiable. (When our child said he couldn't see/ hear well in his assigned seat, the teacher refused to work with parents while the school insisted that we showed a doctor's note; when we said we could get that, then the school said pediatricians don't know anything about students. Also, the receptionist told us that: "He (our child) has to learn that he is not going to get what he wants in life. (and by what he wants in life, they mean "hearing and seeing things clearly in class".))Overall, it's a very beautiful school with traditional academics, high test scores, and strong STEM. It's unfortunate that the teacher handled things quite differently from what current research would suggest. The school reminds me of a religious school I attended 30 years ago more than a modern American school. This could be fine for the right families, but not for us.The teacher valued harmony above conflict resolution and SEL development. As a result, more opinionated and powerful kids got to assign other kids the order they wanted. Our child learned that being self-centered was the norm there, and we didn't like the way our child was changing. When parents asked about a child's motive, the teacher's reply was, "I don't know!!" On top of the SEL deficiency, the teacher also made more mistakes in writing, homework, grading, etc, than any other teachers we have ever met.If your child is a bright, introvert rule follower, Trinity is an excellent school and I recommend Trinity if you think the issues above are positive. For a sociable, highly curious, enthusiastic, sensitive child, this might not be a good fit. (Our experience was limited to only one grade level, and their teachers' styles varied greatly.)

Trinity is a wonderful school, one of the best private schools elementary schools in the Bay Area. The kids tend to be very smart as well as friendly and empathetic. The teachers are great and the curriculum is innovative and current while still being rigorous and rooted in tradition. The families are great and it is a very nice community to be a part of. A large percentage of Trinity School students end up going to the very best middle schools and high schools in the area. Highly recommended.

After volunteering as a chaplain at Trinity School for four years and interacting with parents and members of its faculty and staff for almost eight (as a vestry member of the parish that shares this lovely campus), I am deeply impressed with not only the commitment to excellence in academics, but also the nurturing of compassion, creativity and critical thinking in students and the vibrant support of the talented parent community. I've met the teachers in every grade level and field, and appreciate how much time they put in on their "off time" to stay current (or ahead of the curve) in all things related to education. Transitions -- including welcoming of new students, 5th grade graduations, and the retiring of teachers -- are handled with skill and grace. Since becoming a parish representative to the board, I've also been struck by the expertise of the school's financial team, who ensure stability while always planning for future needs. I am proud to be associated with this school and the bright, caring and confident students it helps create.
