I like this school because it’s very diverse and the students and teachers are seen as equals

My experience at Uni has been nothing but amazing. Of course, the school is not perfect because a perfect school doesn't exist, but that's one of the great things about it. Our school is so accepting of all people, so diverse, racially, socioeconomically, sexual orientation, etc. Our academics are very underrated. For example, our school and LACES are the only schools in the LAUSD West District that an AP Capstone Program. The basis of AP Capstone is learning how to develop an academic argument, finding and establishing an author's argument and credibility. All skills you learn in college, except you learn them in High School. The leaders of the Capstone program are excellent teachers that go above and beyond to support their students. But the thing is about Uni, that pretty much all teachers will go above and beyond for their students. At Uni we're united, and we're also a family. That is one of the things that counts the most.

University High School is a great community to be a part of. The combination of hard working students, supportive teachers, and knowledgeable staff make the high school experience worth while. University High has a little bit of everything for everyone with clubs, sports, honors and AP courses, academic guidance, and extracurricular programs.University High School has helped me set expectations to reach it because of the vast amount of resources, the dedication of the staff, and the genuine involvement of the community.I feel that Uni has well prepared me to go far in my academic career and to continue on to post secondary schooling. The college center and counselors are very knowledgeable about the college acceptance process. They have effectively improved my chances into getting into a good school through there guidance.University High has academic programs that are unique to UNI such as the AP Capstone program. Only offered in two LAUSD schools, The AP Capstone is a College Board program that equips students with the independent research, collaborative teamwork, and communication skills that are increasingly valued by colleges. AP Capstone is comprised of two AP courses — AP Seminar and AP Research— and is designed to complement and enhance the discipline-specific study in other AP courses. It cultivates curious, independent, and collaborative scholars and prepares them to make logical, evidence-based decisions. This course challenges students to think critically, while also strengthening their research skills, and vocal ability! University High School is a great school and appeals to many students for its extremely diverse learning atmosphere.
