When I was ready to go back to work after having taken care of the two boys for two years I was very apprehensive to leave them alone for the day with someone we hardly knew but our prayers were answered when we enrolled them at this school. The two boys can t stop talking about the school every day when they come home. They have learned something new and are so eager to share this with us before they go to bed. This just shows what a caring and loving environment the two boys have while they are at school specially Ms. Kumi whom they have a special bond. All the other teachers are also very nice and pleasant and have been at the school for a very long time. We are so impressed with their curriculum and how our two boys have developed not only in their education but specially their social skills. We highly recommend the Montessori House of Children and glad that there are still schools such as this where we as parents have the peace of mind that our children are safe and at the same time receiving an educated that will be such a great stepping stone for their higher learning and character development. Thank you to you all at the Montessori House of Children.

Our daughter has been attending this school for 6 months. The teachers are loving and attentive and have all been very helpful to her since the arrival of our new baby two months ago. The demographics of the school are particularly appealing (the children are of all ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds). Also, we like that everything isn't super new like some of the overprivileged children's learning centers we saw. The entire staff knows my child and are interested in what she needs as an individual to grow. Immediately we saw improvement in our then 2 year old's table manners and ability to pick up after herself. The work that I see the older children doing is impressive (serious math work and 5 year olds making verbal presentations to an entire group!). But most importantly, the children at this school are exuberant and happy. The Montessori way can sometimes subdue the "child" in children in my opinion. This school strikes a fantastic balance between teaching children to have the interest and ability to focus on their work and still be kids and have a blast. We can afford pretty much any school and this is the school we chose - and we couldn't be happier about our choice!

There are better schools available. Attended for 4 months. School allows children to bring their own toys from home everyday and all age groups are mixed during outside playtime this creates an aggressive anti-sharing environment. When mentioned to the director that outside play time was a little too aggressive she said that the real world isn't fair and that the children needed to learn to fend for themselves. Our son starting hitting and displaying aggresive behavior. We often observed the student to teacher ratio to be above the legal limit 12:1. There were always enough teachers on property, just not interacting or even watching the children. This school is more like a daycare than a school. Found some of the teachers and director to be rude, almost mean. They seem unhappy. We switched to Pinecrest and our son started asking to go to school instead of crying about going to school and the hitting stopped and now he willingly shares toys with his friends. We had our son at Kindercare in Northridge prior to Montessori and we would recommend that school as well, it was just too far of a drive for us.

Yes, this school is very clean and well organized. The outdoor area is very fun. HOWEVER, my son attended this school for two months. Montessori schools are not supposed to use worksheets but the kids were given worksheets as busy work every day. Although my son is advanced and was already reading at 3 years old he was given no additional encouragement but still had to do basic worksheets. I heard the teachers yell at students in stern voices. There was no love or redirection. Here's the worst part - my son came home saying bad words in Spanish. Because his nanny speaks Spanish she told me what he was saying and it was disgusting. He said the teachers were saying these words. My nanny also said that she heard the teachers talking to each other in Spanish and talking very meanly about the children. My son cried every day that I left him at this school. When we moved schools to Encino Presbyterian (which was a hike for us!) he never cried. The teachers there were loving and that's what children need when they are in their toddler and preschool years. They also do not release the emails of parents so we cannot contact one another to even get references or opinions!
