Our daughter went to Cabrillo for two years and was crushed when we had to move her senior year. A very good school. Our daughter loved her graphic arts class and teacher. The school offered some great electives.

If anyone rates this school less than 4 stars it's not a reflection of what this school has to offer. We are a military family stationed at VAFB. Our daughter spent her 9th and 10th grade year at this school. I asked her to rate her teachers on a scale of 1 to 5 ( 1= horrible, 3 avg & 5 great) and she said: "majority were 5 only 2 were about a 4 and 1 was a 3." I also asked 4 of her friends how they would rate their teachers and they all said overall a 4, that they have had just a few "bad" teachers but the majority of their teachers were "really good". Our child has enjoyed her time here, made new friends quickly, and thrived in their classes. As a military family sometimes it's difficult moving to new locations but, they worked with us to place her in necessary classes to continue to advance her education. She met with her counselors when necessary to talk about her classes and was engaged with the teachers. My husband and I always went to the parent teacher open houses and talked to our child regularly about her day at school. She was in a few honor classes and the Orchestra. Their music programs are avg for a HS because of the mixture of new, continuing, and advanced music students. But, if your student is advanced in music there are options in the area with the Santa Barbara strings and the San Luis Obispo youth Symphony. Her classes challenged her and gave her incentive to continue to strive for good grades. I asked the 5 girls what's negative about Cabrillo High School and they had to think hard, finally coming up with: no air conditioning in the classes and every so often when it's hot here it gets warm in the classes. They also share the football field with Lompoc HS because Cabrio does not have a football field.

I dont care what anyone else says....I love this school with all my heart. I only attended freshman year here, and wish I could have attended more. I live in Germany now. They have really good electives, many to choose from, many different sports, and the dress code is a bit more strict this year apparently than previous years. I met the best friends in my life at cabrillo. Yes, there are many couples showing affection but it's that way at almost all high schools...they're teenagers. I miss this school SO MUCH and would basically do anything to go back. When I visit over the summer, I will go to the school and reminense. If you come here, you will NOT REGRET IT. As a former student, my time spent here wasn't that great when it came to academics. I have been to previous high school before Cabrillo were I was challenged in my school work. Going to Cabrillo make me feel like I was wasting my time. All my course work was joke and/or a repeat of my previous 3 years of high school.

I being a military kid have gone to many different schools but Cabrillo High School is the worse school that I have attended. Over 1/3 of the freshmen students get pregnant and people seem surprise if you leave here without having a child. The amount of students getting high and wasted is insane and out of control and the teachers and staff don't really care. Teachers will also fib students grades is they beg enough, getting an A is pretty easy but earning it is a different story. Teachers also don't truly teach either, they're more interested in the students personal life's and love sharing theirs. There is absolute no dress code either at this school, the staff "cracks down" on some students for having shorts that are barely shorter than their fingertips while other students have half of their butt showing and their stomachs exposed and no one cares. Colored hair is supposedly not aloud but lots of people hair red, purple, blue, pink, and green hair. Many students love to show affection at lunch and before school so many couples spend all their time sucking each other's face and all on top of each other. Used condoms are not an unusual thing to find around campus.
