Loma Linda Academy is expensive and the high school program is very limited, teachers are incompetent and there is not leadership. The lack of motivation make the students to limit their potential.

I have been at LLA since Kindergarten and I am currently a sophomore (10th year) in high school. Loma Linda Academy is home away from home for me. The campus is huge (it encompasses 3 campuses) and the administration has a specific plan in making the HS bigger.Loma Linda Academy is the biggest SDA school in the country. All of the teachers are non-conservative Seventh-day Adventists. The teachers can be strict every now and then but not above the norm, and they are always willing to help with homework that a student doesn't understand. They will even stay after school to help a student (except for the HS teachers that work at colleges after). An important note is that the curriculum for each class is not standardized, so the teachers can better control the way in which they teach and can be more effective in their instruction. However, most of the teachers have been at LLA for more than 15 years so the curriculum is already set in stone. The atmosphere of LLA is very open and inviting. Just because a student is not SDA does not mean that he is left out by anyone. In fact, SDA believers tend to have different opinions than other SDA believers because of the broad spectrum of beliefs Seventh-Day Adventism covers. The teachers do not discriminate students based on religion, and students do not discriminate other kids just because they're another faith. Although in statistical terms, I'd say about 90% of students are SDA and 9.9% are another Christian faith or another based faith, with 0.1% not believing in God at all.I don't partake in sports, but there are many sports teams in high school for both genders. Football, baseball, softball, soccer, tennis, swimming, golf, badminton, volleyball, and basketball are the current ones. Don't worry if you're a track or cricket star because the athletic director is willing to make another sports team if there are enough kids. Students that are in sports don't have to take PE and can insert a different period instead. The students at LLA are super kind people. In the HS, the freshman are not usually bullied by their superiors, unlike that of public school culture. There is still a bully hotline just in case any relationship gets awry.Overall, LLA is a tremendously good school. I can say that with confidence, even though I may be biased because I have been here since Kindergarten. If you are thinking or wanting to come here, you should definitely make a call and/or visit at an open house.

I have been a 12 year student at Loma Linda Academy. I have really enjoyed my time there. The teachers at LLA are very passionate about their jobs. Unlike what the other comment says, teachers do stay late to help kids out. Some of my high school teachers would stay til 7 p.m! Elementary teachers may not stay as late but the campus as a whole provides courses specialized for those pupils. There are also tutoring sessions always available at low costs. The atmosphere at LLA is very friendly. I will always cherish my memories I've created. Beginning with the Big Toy to making my first sports team in Jr. High and lastly experiencing the best time of my life in high school. If you are thinking of sending your kid to LLA, I would definitely recommend! There are too many opprotunities to miss out!
