Ronald C. Wornick Jewish Day School Ratings & Reviews

We are thrilled to be part of the community and our son has thrived here. He loves learning and his teachers completely know what makes him tick. He had learning challenges in grade 3 and the start of grade 4. The school did everything in their power to make sure he would succeed. His turnaround as one of the top academic students in his class is a testament to his teachers.

We have one child at Wornick and intend to enroll our other child in a couple of years as well. We have been welcomed into the community like few others we have experienced in the past. Our child did go to the PJCC program for two years and we chose to go with Wornick because of the emphasis on small class sizes, individualized attention and the strong academics. We re not Jewish but the values resonate with us strongly. We like the informal structure and the level of parental involvement. We find our child is growing by leaps and bounds and the administration is always receptive to our queries and concerns, and they are addressed instead of being swept under the rug. Critical thinking is another component we strongly value and appreciate, enabling children to make better decisions all along. Our child loves the strong academics, music appreciation, technology, sports, and ethics at Wornick. The school also builds a strong sense of community among us parents by encouraging us to participate in volunteer activities and have inevitably ended up with deep friendships. Very different to our experiences at other private schools, I will add.

We have 3 kids at Wornick. They started at Wornick in Kinder, and are now in 3rd, 4th and 5th. We are very happy with the school. Secular and Jewish academics are excellent and are well-integrated, as has been mentioned in other reviews. STEM, especially the use of Singapore Math, is excellent at the lower grades. Our child with specific learning differences has been accommodated and taught to advocate for himself; he has done so well that he now works comfortably at grade level in all subjects. Wornick is fantastic at encouraging the kids to become public speakers: they make presentations at regular intervals in every grade. We also love the community: we feel very comfortable that any of the families look out for our kids, and we're thrilled that these children grow up together, feel strongly grounded in their Jewish heritage, and will know each other for years to come.

We have two children at the school currently in Kindergarten and 4th Grade. I love how the kindergarten teaching team creates a "learning without knowing it" fully integrated curriculum that keeps the young kids engaged, actively participating, and always looking forward to what's next. Our kindergarten experience this year has been really special for our daughter. I think that every child deserves to have the experience my 4th grader is having at school this year. She is being gently pushed out of her comfort zone, and having success outside of that comfort zone which helps build confidence and maturity. Like the rest of the grades, 4th grade curriculum is also fully integrated, so it all ties back together, allows them to make connections and think critically. As parent's we couldn't be happier, and truly feel like Wornick is such a special place to learn, because they really care about so much more than the grade on the paper. Wornick strives to prepare each child be extraordinary in every way possible - body, mind a soul.

We have two children at Wornick Jewish Day School, one in 3rd and one in 6th grade. We couldn't be happier. The caliber of faculty has improved over the last several years, and we are fortunate to have a team of dedicated, well trained, thoughtful and innovative educators. The curriculum is built around teaching 'enduring understandings', which the students will carry with them well into the future. Students are taught to dig deep, developing critical thinking skills and building themselves as leaders. We love the cross-grade interactions, which reinforce the leadership skills and help kids learn how to feel comfortable in varied situations. Most recently, the 6th graders researched Ancient China, after which they wrote children's books using the facts, and presented their books to the 3rd graders. STEM is also a high priority, with differentiated groups for math and excellent science education. Class sizes are small, which allows teachers to get to know and address each student's needs.
