I just enrolled my son in Kinder at OLPH and unfortunately, the teachers, principle and staff have proven themselves to be a disappointment. They are poorly organized and lack leadership and classroom management skills. When you try to voice your concerns you are considered to be a trouble maker. The teachers my son has show favoritism toward the Spanish speaking children. They don't like to be asked questions about their teaching methods, credentials and are not quick to respond unless your one of their favorites. The tuition is very expensive and this school doesn't have air conditioning in all the rooms and they are always asking the parents for money for every single event/fundraiser they host. Carefully question if this school meets your children's needs. Don't think i will keep mine in there much longer if it gets any worse. My main complaint here is the Kinder teachers, they are inexperienced and lack certain qualifications to be implementing the immersion program for our young children.

I am a 7th grade student currently attending OLPH. I have been at this school for 5 years and have many memories. The academics and teachers are fantastic! Including the advanced math program in junior high that starts in 6th grade. A year ago they started the high tech iPad program in junior high where you use your iPads during your different classes. (You do use paper during math.) The sports program is very good with great coaches. The music program is especially good with different instruments you play with including the recorder. One of the downsides about this school is many of the pupils. I am considered the nerd in the class because of my smarts and my acne which I inherit from my father. In second grade no one introduced me to themselves as to which everyone already had their friends. So if your planning to send your child there, start them out in PRE-K. There are many cliques by the time you start 6th grade. There is really no physical bullying. But mental bullying is quite a bit. Drama is a big thing by the time you hit 4th grade. The foul language is not to bad compared to other schools. Another downside is the tuition is considerably high which is quite hard to pay.

OLPH is an amazing school with fantastic leadership. The philosophy of the school is that the parents are the "primary educators of their child" so any parent not willing to fully participate in their child's education should not apply. The teachers are very qualified and creative. The principal's door is open to all parents. The children are happy and encouraged to be involved in all the school has to offer. OLPH is a GREAT SCHOOL.

Parents, I would advise you to be aware of the experience and background of your child's teacher. I placed my child in this school. His teacher had no prior experience in this grade, in fact, it was her first year teaching this grade. As an experienced educator, I had to question inappropriate age level homework, bullying issues and classroom management. Doesn't help when their answer is to "retain" your child. I eventually pulled him out of this school, ironically my child got "Honor Roll" at his new school. To add, the principal always sided with the inexperience teacher...pulling my son out was a blessing in disguise and can't look back on the financial investment. Just ask questions, and be an advocate for your child.
