Awesome. I mean it is high school... But I think it helped me prepare for college.

I would like to see this school take more steps of getting teachers who are rude and disrespectful to the students out. If it means getting them the training to help them use better techniques to communicate in a more compassionate way. I am sorry when it comes to teachers, I know that they are understaffed and are not given the support needed to deal with situations. No teenager should ever be belittled like this.

Chatsworth Charter High School is a very middle of the road school; however, if you have a motivated student, that student will be successful no matter where he or she goes to school. The problem is that most students are not that self-motivated (at least that is what it seams like at Chatsworth) and as a result, they need an extra pouch in the right direction from their parents, teachers and school administrators. Chatsworth has some very good teachers - especially in the English, History and Science Departments. The foreign language program is "hit or miss" depending on the teacher. The math department is generally terrible, but some of this issue to Common Core and some of this is due to teachers who may know math but are not very good at teaching it to students who are not necessarily mathematical. This would not have been my first school of choice but i'm not sure that any of the other local public high schools are much better. I recommend trying to get your child into as many honors classes as your student can successfully handle. The type of students that are in the honors and AP classes are generally more serious and, at the very least, are a bit more motivated.

I transferred to this school as a result of a move. And this school is downright horrible. Since the school I came from was a decent school all around, the normal classes were challenging enough for me. Coming to this school, only the honor kids do well. the other kids are left to rot in classes with teachers that do not know the material they are teaching (I had to correct my US history teacher on multiple occasions), The teachers are lazy (My English 5/6 teacher would have a tape read us the book, then put a transparency on the overhead and then just sit down on her chair and go on her phone), and some are just evil. The whole school is dirty and sea gulls flock there after lunch picking up at the remains. The students are noisy and not kept under control and the teachers let them do whatever they want while try to "teach" It eventually got so bad my mom moved back so that I could attend my old school again. And they STILL haunt me. My dad even received a progress report from my school, and after not attending a single day, I was still getting a passing grade in math. Really goes to show something huh?

I transferred my son from Granada to Chatsworth and he has flourished. Granada was too big and impersonal with uncaring and bullying staff. Just get your kid into the honors classes and he will do great.
