Overall, my experience has been great. My children have wonderful teachers each year that really care about their students. The teachers communicate well with the parents and I feel that the school does too. My children have been attending for a few years and love it. The school is very welcoming to parents and feels more like a little community.

Overall my experience has been poor. I have had three kids at Calibre since it was Carden and while they talked a good game I have rarely seen it translate into success for my kids. I feel the school has failed to teach the children how to be good students. I like many of the people and I believe that they care, but in the end I think that the teachers are overwhelmed and not supported well enough. If I could go back I would have found another school. Do not send your children here!

Have attended this school for a few years and all I can say is it WENT DOWN HILL! 5 new teachers in 4th grade and 2 teacher changes for my kinder. The principal Mrs. Vargas is terrible. She is rude! Does not make the parents or students feel welcome. She jumps to suspensions before getting both sides. As stated by another parent Bullying is very high. My son was punched in the back of the head in the cafeteria, he pushed the boy away. As a result of pushing the boy away he was sent to the office. He had never caused any problem at the school, unlike the other boy. He was suspended for a week. She never even called the other boy in. She said the aid didn't see the punch, just the push. The maintenance is lacking also. Never have soap in restrooms, kids are lucky to have TP. Lunch, well if you want to call it that. They have to shovel the food in as fast as they can if they hope to fill their bellies. Communication varies based on teacher. Some are good and here from on occasion via email. While others you have no communication ALL year. The school treats the teachers very poorly. The owner well he is just out for the $$$$ and could care less about the students and it shows. No wifi in classrooms, never have I seen green grass, no balls for kids to use, no laptops for class use, old storage like buildings for computer labs, closed north side office to parents..... The list goes on and on. Don't waste your time going here. Your child will suffer greatly on an educational level. And by the way they don't believe in spelling words. As a result none of these Calibre kids can spell, or even right a proper sentence.

Bullying is tolerated by this school... It is public record and last year 2015- 2016 school year had 14 separate calls to the police department regarding bullying. One of them being our son. Our child was physically attacked, choked and bit where the skin was broken. He is only in second grade and the student that did this was suspended for three days. The student was allowed back to school. Once the bully was back to school he drew a picture of my son dead in a grave with a head stone that had his name on it. The school did not inform us or tell us this had happened. When we went to the school to discuss this and ask that the bully be expelled or at least taken out of my sons class, we were told that would not happen and if anyone was to be switched classrooms it would have to be my son. We said that was not fair. Our son was the good kid getting all A's... They shrugged there shoulders at us. Needless to say the child never got taken out of the school or moved. We ended up taking our son out of the school. Not a good school in our opinion.

We've been going to Calibre since it was Carden, about 5 years now. My daughter has been in CAPP since 2nd grade, she is now in 4th. She absolutely loves the project-based learning style, frequently uses the 'habits of the mind' and genuinely overall loves her classmates and the challenge presented there. Like with all schools/classes, she sometimes struggles--however, her teachers and I have always kept a very open line of communication that my daughter is involved in and those obstacles are quickly remedied. CAPP is great for her because it allows her to delve into a subject matter on a much deeper level, something she keeps a keen interest in. Instead of reading about volcanoes, the students are more likely to build one, cause an eruption and then have discussion-based forums where different ideas and why's are presented. We absolutely love the program and hope to stick with it for as long as possible!
