AASC has always had a private school feel (without the cost) and a great family atmosphere. The priority has always been the students and their needs. The teachers individualize their students' education and provide a loving environment for them to grow. The class sizes have always been smaller to ensure the quality of education. This year, each K-3 class had an assistant to help in the class! As a teacher for 9 years at AASC, I have taught at the old and new campuses, held different teaching positions, had a few changes, and have no doubt that our mission remains the same in providing a high quality education in a loving atmosphere to every student who joins our AASC family.

Our family attended AASC for three years and saw three different principals. Since we arrived, every single main classroom teacher that was at the school left with the exception of one who changed grade levels three times in three years. A very small handful of the peripheral staff have stayed for multiple years, however they also have held ever-changing positions. This school year alone there were five or more main and support staff that were either let go of or left their positions midyear. At least 5 of the grades on campus lost either a main or support staff teacher this schoolyear. All of those kids in all of those classes were greatly affected and when concerned parents voiced their questions, instead of being met with compassion or even with plain reason, parents received a a talking-down-to. That type of chaotic environment, trickling down from corporate and administrative decision making, is what led our family elsewhere. The amazing family-like atmosphere, where kids were not just an afterthought in school-wide decisions, is long gone; the school we originally signed up to attend was no longer there this year. I would encourage anyone reading this to do your due diligence checking into the current quality of this establishment before sending your precious kids there. I believe there is misinformation on this website and would caution that I do not believe all teachers to be certified as the website states. It also has the principal from 3 years ago still listed as current. Please also beware that “good reviews” from this current schoolyear on this website were rallied by the current principal; at one point in the winter, in exchange for a good review, parents would receive tickets from her to select reserved seating areas for kids’ performances. It also seems any time someone leaves a less than blossoming review here that it is miraculously rebutted almost immediately by a positive “parent”. All this being said, I’m very thankful for our family’s friendships and memories made there. I do hope the board and administration start reconsidering the kids as their first priority with decisions going forward. I wish they would see that their strength used to lie in being an entity that was unique from the public school system, one that was friendly and lovely and child-centered and welcoming to all.

The first part of the school year went well. My child was really enjoying attending school. Despite some issues with bullying, my child was happy to be at PLC. However, once that teacher left it has been really bad. Kids are unchallenged. The administration runs from any meaningful dialogue with the parents, and tries to whitewash obvious problems that are in plain sight. We are leaving after our first year at PLC.

My child is thriving at this school and has been here for four years now. There have been a lot of changes including staff, location, etc but for the most part I believe the idea of the school and the amazing education it provides is still on track and I am still happy to have my child enrolled and continue to call this small school home. The teachers are all so kind and the parent involvement over the past year has been amazing. It is all coming together and seeming like a big family. I am very happy with my experience.
