Mission Montessori is a wonderful, loving, caring, and highly academic school. All 3 of our children started in preschool and have continued at Mission Montessori. We have 2 girls and 1 boy, each child has a unique personality, and different needs and strengths. My oldest is in 6th grade now and is thriving! My younger children are in 3rd grade and 1st grade, sharing the same classroom, and doing beautifully. I love the multi-age classroom (1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders are together) and the fact that the children learn at their own pace. Many people have a misconception that children in a Montessori school wander around all day. I can assure you, that is not the case. There is a purpose to everything the children do, even though many times the children (and even the parents) are unaware. The children in 1st-3rd grades have workplans for the entire week and that provides the structure. Each day children complete the work assigned for that day, but the children choose the ORDER in which they do their work. The children work independently but may quietly ask for help from other children or from the teachers. Each child's workplan is unique, the work is tailored to each child. So there is a balance of structure and independence, but it is customized for each child. It's truly amazing! In addition to the classroom work, the children enjoy specials each day: Art, PE, Gardening, Sustainable Systems, Music, and Spanish. There are goats, chickens, tortoises, bunnies, and a plethora of plants and the children take care of all of them. The children also have the opportunity to do research projects both in the classroom and at home. This week, we finished the children's class presentations. Each child researched and prepared a report and visual aid on a topic. 3rd graders selected a country, 2nd graders a monument, and 1st graders an animal. It was fantastic to watch my 1st grade son present to the class and answer questions about his animal. My 3rd grader is a pro by now because she has done it so many times, but she loved sharing her information as well. This is our 8th year at Mission Montessori and all of my children are doing exceptionally well in this nurturing, yet academically challenging, environment. The teachers are wonderful, dedicated, and highly skilled. I highly recommend this school!

wonderful!!! My son has been with MM since the toddler program and will be entering 1st grade this year. The teachers and admin are so enthusiastic, caring and knowledgeable. I love how the teachers use different materials and even the outdoors as an opportunity for learning. I highly recommend this nurturing school as a wonderful place for your children to grow and learn.

I have had three children attend Mission Montessori, but sadly I have had to remove all of them from the school. If it wasn't for the teachers in the Pre K classrooms - we would have never stayed as long as we did. They are warm, caring and have great hearts. However, the administration and the policies at this school is where this school has lost our family. This last year we had to abruptly withdraw our 2 children because Mission was not adhering to a high enough standard. The classroom has become overcrowded and this has left a huge strain on the staff. One day 2 assistants were sick (there are no substitutes) and this left one overwhelmed teacher to to teach 40+ 3,4 and 5 yr olds! Playground time is often taken away for the ENTIRE class if the are to many disruptions. Why should my 3 year old miss out on play time because somebody else is not following the rules? That is absurd. There are so many kids in the room unsupervised that kids frequently use the restroom with the door open, which is unacceptable. Also, during lunch the kids cannot speak during the entire lunch period. I could go on and on, but the final straw came when my 4 year old son came home with his Curious George shirt turned inside out without even the courtesy of an explanation. To us this is unacceptable. No adult should be allowed to remove the clothing of a child for any reason beyond a potty accident. We prepaid our tuition and were denied a refund for the remainder of the school year, citing a 30 day notice that we did not give.It has been clear to us that this schools number one priority is making money. Adding more and more student s to an exhausted teaching staff. They are very adept at turning a deaf ear to the concerns of parents.Let me repeat, the Pre-K teachers and assistants were terrific, but your kids will get lost in the classroom. Once we transferred to a different school with more appropriate class numbers, it was like we had brand new kids that could not wait to go to school in the morning! We received frequent updates through email about their day and even had a chance to chat with the teachers after school! What a difference. Mission Montessori had a good thing going, but the desire to cash in has led to a huge decline in their campus.

I have 3 daughters that have attended this school since they were toddlers. This school focuses on the whole child, not just academics. While all 3 of my children are doing fantastic academically, it is the character and sense of independence that really shines. My oldest is about to graduate from middle school here and has been accepted into the IB program for High School. The fact that this school is not your typical factory model of education was very appealing to me as a parent, but the result for all 3 of my kids has been far better than I could have imagined. I am proud to be part of this community here at Mission and I am grateful for the love for learning that they have instilled in my children.

Agree with comments in regards to Mission giving preferential treatment to students whose parents donate money. Perhaps an almost linear correlation. Beyond this, quality of education is very poor beyond early elementary.I come from an educated family. Father was a decorated teacher for over 30 years at both the high school and University levels. All of my siblings have PhDs, MDs, etc and received full rides to college. All of my siblings, including myself, were National Merit Scholars. I write the above not to elevate myself, but to demonstrate that I speak from the perspective of someone who has seen and benefited first hand from the opportunity a good education affords. I was lucky enough to have incredible teachers and a great school system growing up.My child has transferred to a new school, and the difference is night and day. Proceed at your own (child's) risk.
