Horrible! The teachers do not teach, but simply are focused on disparaging the parents to their children. I have to withdraw my son as this school tries to promote drama over education and somebody of the teachers are highly discriminatory and target certain parents!

This school is amazing. It is so clear that the principal is involved-she calls every Sunday to highlight the character focus and important school events. The campus is beautiful and everyone is so incredibly warm and welcoming. Excellent communication and our kinder teacher was amazing. We could not have asked for a better experience for our son's first year of school. So thankful for the commitment this school has to our community.

The school adopted a school wide no homework policy, no accountability in the upper grades, no spelling tests, book reports, There is no adopted language arts curriculum. Teachers are left on their own to find resources to teach reading comprehension and grammar. There is no consistency from grade level to grade level. Each year the parents and students have to adjust to the method of language arts that the teacher chooses to use. it should be the teacher's choice, it should be a district wide curriculum so learning is sequential from grade level to grade level. PUSD is not what it use to be. You are better off to go to one of the near by charter schools where there is accountability and real learning happening.

Our son transferred mid-term from a highly-rated public charter school who were unable and unwilling to give him the accommodations his ADHD required. Moving to a school where the teacher was not only familiar with how to teach students like him, but was able to encourage him was a relief and a joy. Since transferring, not only has he not had a single disciplinary issue, but he has brought home near straight-A's and is being tested for the gifted program. Almost two months later, he is very much a Sunset Heights Cub, and thrilled to be staying at a school which challenges him and allows him the freedom to grow and explore.

My Son goes to this school from 1st grade. We loved the teachers. Also, communication to Parents is excellent.Weekly, we get update from teachers about their classwork, homework and spellings and also principal's email to parents about weekly status. They do have enrichment program for kids who are academically strong. They are definitely challenged to the charter schools around this area. Also have stem programs from 3rd grade. Now, coming to the reason for my review here.I am an Asian mom. Recently, with three incidents I noticed that some staffs are so biased with mom/students whose parents do volunteer in school. I personally noticed that they are differentiating my kid with other racist kid. I really not happy with this attitude and it hurts when seeing them. I thought of sending note to Principal but not sure how they take it. I know she is a very cool person but my personal opinion is we can't judge people that easily. Sometimes, they may be so sweet when seeing parents and emailing them but their thoughts will be different. This needs to be taken care by school. All staffs play equally important in child's growth in school. Please take action accordingly.
