Valley View Elementary School Ratings & Reviews
We moved from San Diego, CA to Hereford, AZ. From a school rated at a 9 to Valley View Elem. rated at an 8 according to Great Schools. Prior to moving we did a lot of research regarding the schools in this area and it turned out to be Not at all what he had expected. We had our daughter at Valley View for 3 of the 4 quarters of her 4th grade year and we had a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! We have actually decided to home school our children as many others in this area do because they school system here is so bad. Our experience with Valley View is; We actually ended up living next door to her teacher so we were able to have personal conversations about this school’s issues. Some of the concerns that she addressed were that the teachers there are struggling because they are expected to pay for everything themselves, the school does not pay for any supplies or plans for the teachers or students, NONE. She explained that the teachers are worn down & tired because their class sizes are much to large and they do not have help. And the teachers don't have an adequate amount of time to get into a routine schedule because the kids are Constantly taking the Standardized Tests. It is exhausting for the kids and the teachers which causes them to get behind in their schedule and creates more work sent home that is not even being taught in the classroom. The teachers are worn out and frustrated and the kids are NOT learning or getting the one on one attention that they need and deserve! Our biggest issue with this school is the Major lack of communication with the people running this school, from the front desk to the teachers and mostly the principal. The principal is NOT involved with the children and does not have their best interests at heart. In sum, we had hoped that the 8 rating would have been similar to our other school rated at a 9, but this was NOT the case. The Great Schools rating did NOT seem accurate here. Valley View Elementary is definitely not an 8! We would Not recommend this school.
Completely happy about my decision to send my children to school here! They are honor roll students, excelling in all areas and receiving a quality education in a positive environment. What more could I ask for...also thrilled it is a K-8 school. They offer many after school activities, too!
Teacher involvement is excellent for the students who attend this school. My children have excelled in every subject this year because of their teachers willingness to challenge them and help them succeed!
What a woderful school, where instead of teaching to the test, the teach to each child and the best of their abilities. Everyone from the teachers and staff, not to mention the wonderful principal, Martin Ellsworth, are kind caring and nurturing. My only sadness is that the school stops at middle school. How wonderful it would be if the could add high school to this amazing school.
