Chandler Traditional Academy - Liberty Campus Ratings & Reviews

Horrible. The principal sets the standard and she lacks any empathy. There is no passion for teaching, they treat every student the same regardless of their capabilities. My son was so bored with the curriculum and nobody was interested in challenging him because they already teach a grade level in advamce. If you fit in the box they've molded then fine, but if your child thinks differently and has their own ideas then you will not be accepted.

Where do I begin? Best to start at the top so that means the principal. She is, at best, an inadequate leader, as condescending to students and parents alike as the day is long. At worst, she is a conniving bureaucrat, more concerned with the legacy she is leaving (when that will be, who knows, she's easily been at retirement age for 5+ years) than with the students who make up that legacy. If ever there was a person who would throw others under the bus (and has) in order to preserve her and the schoolΓÇÖs reputation, this is she. Then there are the teachers, who were, until this year (my child's last, thank God!), for the most part good -- some even great. The team this year leaves a LOT to be desired; both they and the administration sold last yearΓÇÖs 6th grade parentΓÇÖs a bag of goods about the school providing more emphasis on STEM (areas where my child excels). Aside from Science Camp (which was more camp than science ΓÇô not necessary a bad thing, but not what my child or I expected), the ΓÇ£greater STEM emphasisΓÇ¥ has not come to fruition. Lastly, there is the workload. Now maybe you are a parent who likes your kid to spend close to 2 hours (sometimes longer) on homework, pretty much every day, after they've already completed a day's worth of classwork. Maybe you donΓÇÖt think having to spend that much time - after youΓÇÖve already put in a full dayΓÇÖs work ΓÇô on what equates to busywork is excessive. But I do, and so does my child, often to the point there are tears shed in frustration. An 11 year old should not hate school. But mine basically has come to hate it and itΓÇÖs largely due to the amount of work expected, which borders on obscene. This, coupled with the fact that this year it was decided the kids would only get 10 minutes of recess (with 25 to eat lunch, which they are expected to do quietly), means there is little to no time my child gets to actually be a child and play with friends. If I could go back in time, I would never have sent my child here. All of my kids attended and when my older kids were here, it was not quite so rigid. Now it borders militaristic. That precious Blue Ribbon commendation they won a few years back has the principal and her sycophants thinking they walk on water. I give it an average rating because my kid does well academically and has made good friends. But I'd say overall it's closer to bad. Avoid, avoid, avoid!

We been going since my older child was in kindergarten , now a high schooler. My younger one is in their last year and we couldn't be happier to get out . You ask why I kept my children here for so long , it is becuase we live in Dobson Place . First of all this school is a start to a good foundation for learning but at the same time liberty is a school for Kindergarten through Second grade and Wouldn't go any further to upper grades from there .There has been a lot of teachers switching grade levels for the past two years . The teachers rule the roost at Liberty,, and the principle lacks leadership skills to make a decision and puts blame on the teachers .The teachers spend more time disciplining the kids about there shirts not being tucked in then teaching . Not to mention If your looking for a school with the right balance of academic and fun - this is not the school for your child . They don't have a spirit week because the teachers say it is a disturbances , but under the same token there is lack of school pride in the students as well as staff .My older child went through Sixth grade and the team who was there left , there was more of fun in learning for sixth grade . Now that my younger one is in sixth grade with a whole new group of teachers it isn't all what it was suppose to be. They promised a stem Science and hired a new teacher to teach ( and the students loved to learn about science everyday ) and that got switched in the middle of first quarter with no explation or warning to the parents or students from the principle or team of teachers. Now the students don't get science everyday as promised .. They put so much expectiations on the students but yet the teachers lack so much and have no accountability to anyone . I would stay clear from CTA Liberty .

i can see some teachers have favoritism (favorite student) especially if the parent works in the school.

I like this school because the principal, teachers and staff are nice and friendly. I like that the students wear uniforms and most teachers have masters degree. But I don't like how they give more importance to classes in Spanish immersion than the English ones. I have also visited the cafeteria numerous times during lunch and I saw how rude the cashier was especially to younger students. She keeps screaming at them. I hope she'll be more patient and friendly next school year. I also don't like that after recess, the students were to fall in line, in a court, in a very hot, three digit degree temperature. I hope they can do this somewhere with a shade.
