Your school experience is truly what you make of it. I hate to say that our generation of children are lacking in respect and involvement to excel. The school can make all necessary provision, but if the parents do not care what their child puts into their education. You can't blame the school. My child graduated in 2010 and was in the band. Graduated with honors. She is also a christian, and we as her parents made sure that Jesus was her focus. She is in college and is working. She received an education to ready her for her future, but I assure you that we were involved in her education. That's the problem today, we send our children to school and expect the school to raise our children. Wake up parents!! Get involved with your children's education and don't leave it up to someone else to do the job. I guess it's easier to send them to a private school and hope for the best. Good luck it's sometimes worse. So, just to say we are glad we didn't listen to the negative responses. My daughter is doing very well because of attending Talladega High School.

I'm a graduating senior of the class of 2013 and the valedictorian. THS has been a great school if you hang out with the right people. I am band member, so there is always someone I know to hang out with for support or fun. If you are a loner or don't do anything, of course you'rs going to picked on. Most of the kids in Talladega think that school is for talking out loud and socializing. They don't think studying for a better future is worth their time and that it is unfair to have to work for grades. It's not that THS is unsafe because of bullying, it's just that teachers are more worried about dress code than preventing fights. My biggest disappointment with THS is the lack of extra-curriculars, like how all the groups are well-kept secrets and the only way to join one is to know someone in it. I wish the teachers would force us to excel, not allow us to do the bare minimum to pass. I have passed all my classes in THS with little to no studying. While they are hiring better teachers that not only allow but encourage us to be creative and better ourselves, I wished they would have done this earlier. However, I feel better that upcoming students will have a more educational time.

This is a horrible school. The saftey of your kids are a low priority for these people. Guard shcack posted outside is there to protect students from outsiders but who is protecting the good students who want to learn from the other students. Bully is tolerated and as in my case they choose to protect a 3rd year senior than a student who was possibly going to be their 2013 valedictorian. The principal wants to please everyone and doesnt stand for anything. The asst. vp is ignorant and I had to pull my studnet out for her own protection. A fellow student told me you had to be tough and street smart to attend this school. My child goes to school to learn, not to have to constantly defend herself.

I'm a current student at Talladega High School where I am in the 12th grade. In my opinion they are more focussed on what we wear and discipline more than they are our education. Every parent tries to be involved but sometimes can't be there and that's understandable. I think there could be more extracurricular activities. I wish there could have been more before my last year, but certain activities never get approved. I think that Talladega is a good school, but the faculty and staff sometimes focus on things that are irrelevant and should be more concerned about our education. Hopefully things will get better in the future.
