I am a parent of 3 children at this school. We have been here 3 school years ands we absolutely LOVE it!!! I have friends whose children are in other schools in the same grades and higher as mine and my kids are learning and being exposed to a much higher curriculum level. The teachers are very concerned about the education, behavior and morale of the students. No school is perfect but to us this one is close. I am excited about the new school location and I encourage any parent that is seeking an awesome learning and Christian environment to check this school out. They do have a no bullying policy which in this day and time is very necessary.

In an area of big schools - this small school is well worth a look. Our kids have been at SMCS for 5 years & it's a blessing to know our kids friends AND their parents. We enjoy a diverse community of Christians in a setting other than church. Academics are strong, with nurturing teachers that love on kids in the lower grades and mentor the older students. The principal made difficult decisions the last 2 years in a commitment to raising academic standards with a focus on quality hiring decisions in math & science. The theater and band productions are immensely enjoyable when you know the performers & their families. SMCS provides opportunities for kids to play multiple sports while at the same time having the flexibility to be a part of other activities. Numerous student-athletes in surrounding schools work tirelessly year-round from their middle school days through high school in hopes of making one sports team at the super-sized schools. Unfortunately, a lot of those kids burn out or loose their passion for the game just as they peak at a cost of never exploring the arts or other "stretch" sports. The well-rounded multi-sport student athlete of 25 years ago is back at SMCS!

Great school! We are the parents of two graduates of SMCS who attended school there from K4 through 12th grade. We chose SMCS because we wanted to invest in our children's intellectual and spiritual education. We were not disappointed. SMCS also provided them with the opportunity to participate in multiple sports, band, choir and other activities which contributed to building their character and helping to prepare them for life after high school. SMCS is one of the area's best kept secrets which needs to be shared!

Both our boys transferred from an excellent school system when they were in the 6th grade. We originally chose to move our oldest son because we felt a smaller school would benefit his personality better. A once timid child blossomed in the smaller environment. The added value of a Christian curriculum was important to us, but it was not the original reason we switched schools. Both our boys excelled academically and socially. Both played football and baseball. But, what is unique about a smaller school, students are not pigeon-holed into just being a scholar, jock or artist. Our boys excelled academically, played sports and participated in SMCS theater. That elective enabled both boys to talk in front of people without fear. Both served as ambassadors for their colleges touring prospective students with their parents. Our oldest son had an excellent job offer in February before he graduated this past May. Our second son made a 32 on his ACT and is maintaining a 3.9 GPA in engineering. Looking back over our sons secondary school years at SMCS, we appreciate the impact the school had in our boys lives. We chose to go a different school path and we are thankful we did!

One of the best schools in Hoover.... I am proud to have a daughter and son that attended Camp Straight Street and daughter to work on the staff... These are amazing teachers helping young people grow and learn through God... Thanks, Angela Finley ~
