An absolute total disappointment. Waited 4 years for it to get better, it just kept getting worse. Definitely nit worth the investment.

John Carroll Catholic has taught me how to show love with my actions and words. The students and faculty there are absolutely amazing!! They are always there to lend a hand when you need it!!

As a JCCHS graduate in 1962, who has continued to closely observe the school to the present day, I can say without doubt that it is a superb high school that prepares ALL of its students for life which for around 98+% of graduating students is matriculation at a four year college. It is true that in some nearby public school high schools such as in Vestavia, Mountain Brook, and Hoover, plus at several area private schools, one can obtain a comparable academic experience. However, the difference is that at JCCHS EVERY student is expected to put forth their best effort academically and to maintain good rapport with all other students and to respect for all faculty members. Indeed, if a student at JCCHS cannot bring themselves to meet standards of academic effort and collegiality, then they will likely be asked to find another school to pursue their education. JCCHS may not have the very top athletic programs nor be the pinnacle at every academic subject, but it can claim to consistently produce successful graduates, some of who reach the highest levels of accomplishment in life such as a Heisman Trophy winner, a Nobel Laureate, and many U.S. military three and four star officers. For seventy years since its founding in 1947, JCCHS graduates have been winners in life. This is mainly because of what students bring to the school from their families and because of what is expected of each and every student who attends JCCHS.

Our child was new to the school as an out of state freshman. The students, freshman and upper classmen, could not have been nicer. Our son fit right in and liked the school right away. We feel he is challenged in the classroom, being in honors classes. He plays a sport and loves being part of a high school team. There is plenty of peer and faculty support. Are all the teams strong? No. But there is no less enthusiasm by the students. We sent our son to JC for academic and religious reasons and we are happy we did.

I think that for the cost of tuition, John Carroll really isn't worth the money. You can get a far better education at a public school such as Homewood, Mountain Brook, Vestavia, etc, as well as more opportunities to excel academically. For a private school with over 600 students the technology is far behind as well as sub par facilities (constant leaks, heat outages). Unless you have your mind set on a catholic education there are far better options. And if your son or daughter is considering a future in athletics other than soccer, this definitely is not the place to go. Save your money I wish I had
