This school has a strong academic program that builds a solid foundation from K-4 through 12. Though small in size, the opportunities to excel are many. Our children are graduates of the school and have advanced college degrees. Their children attend the school and are scoring much higher than SAT norms. The Fine Arts opportunities are many with competitions on the state and national level. We would highly recommend it. -a parent, grandparent and community member

We honestly wish this school would have more extra curricular activities , courses, electives, and sports. Majority of the activies provided are mandatory. For example, band , you have to have an instrument. We feel that if you choose to play basketball, only the best out of the whole entire team(both boys and girls) get rewarded. And everyone else, gets no reward for participation. The amount of bullying and manipulation is sad, and worst of all goes unnoticed.

Not only am I a parent with three children enrolled in Glen Iris Baptist School, I am also a graduate of GIBS. I am confident that my children are receiving the best education in our area, and as a parent I also have the assurance that they are in the best school environment possible. I do not have to worry about drugs, bullying, or inappropriate behavior by teachers. Many of the same teachers that influenced my life are now teaching my children. I know that they love them and take care of them just as they would their own children. We travel over 70 miles (round trip) each day to attend this great school, passing many "good" government run schools along the way. Since 1969 Glen Iris Baptist School has been helping families train their children academically as well as spiritually and I consider it a privilege to send my children to such a wonderful school.

One of a parents biggest fear when their child reaches school age is bullying. NEVER did I expect the bullying to come from the Staff. My child when from a A-B student to having C & Ds. My child told that being a individual is NOT promoted. My child was repeatedly ridiculed by the office staff and the female PE teacher. This year we will be going to public school. AFTER having to test for placement BECAUSE NONE of the credits from Glen Iris are honored by society. I guess last year's senior class of "one" should have been more than a red flag. I will say SOME of the teachers are loved and will remain close to our hearts. But a few bad apples.... you know the rest.

Glen Iris Baptist School is one of the worst schools in Birmingham, more notably so when you consider that it is a Christian school. My child was treated cruely by the teacher there who showed a very strong prejudice against the child. It became apparent to me throughout the year that my child became depressed and even asked not to go to school, when I decided to begin visiting to simply check things out as a good parent should, I was questioned harshly by the staff and sent away with out any answers or even any concern for my small child. I then began talking more with my child and later found that the teacher had very strong bigoted opinions against certain foreign ethnicities. With that we left as I was not about to subject my little one to such hatred, in school. A place where children should be protected and cared for in the absence of their parents. This is certainly not a school that should be open for business.
