Applying for Affordable Housing is always free. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), who funds the program, does not allow any agency to charge a family to apply. Beware of websites that charge a fee to apply for the housing program. These websites are not affiliated with the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency (MDHA) or the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The only way to apply for MDHA housing is through MDHA’s official website.


All new online applications for Edgefield Manor will utilize the nationwide RENTCafe portal service. If you are applying for this property, you will need to register a username and password and include a valid email address. Some applicants may already have a registered profile on RENTCafe for another property managed by MDHA. If this is the case, you can use your registered RENTCafe email address and username for this property. If you have registered profiles on RENTCafe for other housing agencies or property management companies, you can use your registered RENTCafe email address, but you must register a new unique username.

User Name Notice

A user name is no longer required for new RENTCafé registrations as of 11/17/2025, but a valid email address is required. However, a user name is still required to access existing RENTCafé accounts. If you receive the following error during registration: "Account Already Exists: The email address you entered is already registered with an account. To access this account, log in using your user name and password", you will need to log in below with your existing user name and password to begin creating your new application. If you have an existing RENTCafé account with a user name and you cannot log in, try registering again using a different email address. If you are in need of a new email address, visit this list of email providers who offer free email services. 
Note to Social Workers: If you are creating waiting list applications on behalf of your clients, a valid email address is required to register your client in RENTCafe. You will need to use your client's personal email address, or you will need to create a new email address on their behalf. 


Password Requirements

Must be a minimum of ten (10) characters.
Must contain at least one uppercase letter.
Must contain at least one lowercase letter.
Must contain at least one number.
Must contain at least one symbol (@, #, $, %, &, etc.)

Please remember to revisit this property's RENTCafé portal and update your RENTCafé profile as your contact information changes. Simply go to www.Nashville-MDHA.org and click on the Update My Housing Application button and select this property. We want to make sure we can contact you when your name is called!

  • If you registered for this property using your email address as your user name, simply enter your email address for your user name and follow the instructions as they are presented to you.
  • If you registered for this property using a unique user name that’s not an email address, enter your user name as normal, and you will be prompted to add an email address to your profile that’s not already registered with another RentCafe profile. If you receive this error message “Error #58: This email address already exists in our system. Please enter a different email address”, you’ll need to add another email address.
