Applying for Affordable Housing is always free. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), who funds the program, does not allow any agency to charge a family to apply. Beware of websites that charge a fee to apply for the housing program. These websites are not affiliated with the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency (MDHA) or the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The only way to apply for MDHA housing is through MDHA’s official website.

The Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency (MDHA) will open the Cumberland View waiting list on a first-come, first-served basis from noon Nov. 24 until 3 p.m. Nov, 26. Applications will be accepted for one, two, three, four, five, and six bedroom units.

All new online applications created for Cumberland View Apartments will be done using the nationwide RENTCafé portal service. If you're applying for this property, you will need to register with a valid email address and password. Please review the User Name Notice and Password requirements shown below before you start your initial registration process. After your application has been submitted, an automatic email will be sent to your registered email address confirming your application has been received.

In addition, anyone with questions or in need of assistance can call the Resident Services information line at 615-252-8527 (press 0 when prompted) during the open application periods. 

Applicants may also visit public libraries to access a computer. All Nashville Public Library locations have public access computers, and neither an appointment nor a library card are necessary to use them. Please visit the library’s website to find the closest location.

User Name Notice

A user name is no longer required for new RENTCafé registrations as of 11/17/2025, but a valid email address is required. However, a user name is still required to access existing RENTCafé accounts. If you receive the following error during registration: "Account Already Exists: The email address you entered is already registered with an account. To access this account, log in using your user name and password", you will need to log in below with your existing user name and password to begin creating your new application. If you have an existing RENTCafé account with a user name and you cannot log in, try registering again using a different email address. If you are in need of a new email address, visit this list of email providers who offer free email services. 
Note to Social Workers: If you are creating waiting list applications on behalf of your clients, a valid email address is required to register your client in RENTCafe. You will need to use your client's personal email address, or you will need to create a new email address on their behalf. 

Password Instructions

• Must be a minimum of ten (10) characters.
• Must contain at least one uppercase letter.
• Must contain at least one lowercase letter.
• Must contain at least one number.
• Must contain at least one symbol (@, #, $, %, &, etc.).
