Living here
Been here 13+yrs and it seems it got worse. From the noise in appts to the littering. People that come to visit seem to be the idiots that litter and litter the hallways. Lately the yards have litter...used to have a guy who picked up daily and that he has not been around anymore. I just cannot afford to move but if I could I would be gone. Lately the office with the assistant has been cool. She helps a lot!!! We had maintenance guys guard the hallways stopping druggies from going to a certain apt...thought that was pretty cool.
Nice Views And Convenient Location But...
I recommend this property for its nice views and convenient location near parks, the river, biking and walking trails with lots of beautiful wildlife, fishing ponds, the aquatic center, the hospital and grocery shopping, as well as many other shops and activities all within three miles of this property. If you are friendly, but not one to mingle with your neighbors, then this is the property for you. However, if you like a constant flow of socializing, then be prepared to have friends over from outside your immediate area or just head out when you want to spend time with friends or meet new people. The closest bus stops are about a ten-minute walk. This property is a pretty good value overall.
Overall good value
I have lived here for several years and overall, it is a good value for this area. There are woods and trails nearby with deer and other wildlife which both children and adults enjoy, however the area is less suited for families on a limited budget due to the necessity to travel longer distances to find employment options and more could be done to increase the security of the area through more coordinated efforts with the city. There is a grocery store within walking distance and public transportation as well. The staff are friendly and helpful. Overall decent place.
Bang for your Buck!!!
Going on my 2nd year and I have no complaints. As long as you pay your rent on time and keep to yourself then you really don't have any problems. Staff is in office when you need them and maintenance comes in a reasonable time on maintenance request orders. Neighborhood is a huge step up from where I first lived in Des Moines. Overall, I have good apartment complex.
Poor living
The carpet is filthy, been told will be replaced for years. Supposed to be security lock it's not. No security. I have had BAD residents every time we get new ones. The screening is POOR! I challenge the "higher management" to tour all buildings at Oakview Terrace and ask yourself...Would I want to live here? Check the dumpster areas too!
