Typical for this time of the year, fewer people are moving into new apartments. The national average rent inched up just 0.1% ($1) in October, with apartment rates essentially flat for the past few months.<\/p>\n<p><script id=\"infogram_0_b94957e1-8f9f-4cc1-8ca5-9ec9d89ac18d\" title=\"Pennsylvania - RentReport October\" src=\"https:\/\/e.infogram.com\/js\/dist\/embed.js?XA8\" type=\"text\/javascript\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h3>Renting in and around Pittsburgh<\/h3>\n<p>The average rent in the Pittsburgh area is <strong> lower than the national average rent<\/strong>. The fastest growing rents in October were in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/bethel-park-pa\/\">Bethel Park<\/a>, where rental apartment\u00a0prices increased by 0.6% month-over-month, or $6. <strong>Allison Park apartments<\/strong> saw the second highest monthly increase, jumping by 0.5%, making them $5 more expensive than last month and reaching an average monthly rent of $1,044. In <strong>Greensburg<\/strong> and in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/pittsburgh-pa\/\">Pittsburgh<\/a> rents decreased by 1.7% and 0.1% ($13 and $1, respectively). <strong>Cranberry Township<\/strong>\u00a0has the highest average rent in the area at $1,263, while <strong>Greensburg<\/strong> has the lowest, $750.<\/p>\n<h3>Renting in and around Philadelphia<\/h3>\n<p>The average rent in the Philadelphia area is <strong>generally lower than the national average rent<\/strong>. The fastest growing rents in October were in <strong>Levittown<\/strong>, where rental apartment\u00a0prices increased by 1.3% month-over-month, making them $16 more expensive per month. <strong>Horsham<\/strong> apartment prices, meanwhile, decreased by 3.2% ($40) compared to September.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/philadelphia-pa\/\">Philadelphia apartments<\/a>\u00a0are the state&#8217;s and the area&#8217;s most expensive for renters, with an average rent of $1,652, followed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/king-of-prussia-pa\/\">apartments in King of Prussia<\/a>, where the average monthly rent is $1,617.
