The decrease might seem insignificant, but coupled with the slowest year-over-year hike in the past 13 months, 3.2% ($45), it points to a slight wind-down in rent prices in the context of a more volatile financial climate, according to Yardi Matrix.<\/p>\n<h3>Renting in New York State in September 2019<\/h3>\n<p>The average rent in New York State cities is <strong> just about evenly split between cities with rents higher and lower than the national average<\/strong>. The fastest growing rents in September were in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/syracuse-ny\/\">Syracuse<\/a>, where apartment\u00a0prices increased by 2.2% month over month, or $25. <strong>Tonawanda<\/strong> apartments\u00a0saw the second highest monthly increase, jumping by 2.0% and making them $18 more expensive than last month, while in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/troy-ny\/\">Troy<\/a> prices decreased by 1.3% ($15) compared to August.<\/p>\n<p><script id=\"infogram_0_fc8a2ee7-bab1-4841-9435-5a8c615cb63a\" title=\"NY state - RentReport September\" src=\"https:\/\/e.infogram.com\/js\/dist\/embed.js?4h2\" type=\"text\/javascript\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mineola<\/strong> apartments\u00a0are the area&#8217;s most expensive for renters, with an average rent of $2,817, followed by apartments in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/white-plains-ny\/\">White Plains<\/a>, where the average monthly rent is $2,814.
