Nationally, average rent prices reached\u00a0<strong>$1,465<\/strong>\u00a0following a 3.2% annual increase and up 0.8% since last month\u00a0\u2014 the highest monthly jump since May 2018.\u00a0 Compared to last June, renters pay $45 more on average\u00a0according\u00a0to the latest\u00a0rent survey from <a tabindex=\"-1\" title=\"https:\/\/www.yardimatrix.com\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yardimatrix.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Yardi Matrix<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Since the beginning of the year, apartment rents have increased by 2.6% \u2013 that\u2019s an extra $37 added to the average monthly rent in six months. Rent increases during the first half of the year are typically more accelerated, whereas during the second half of the year they\u2019re expected to slow down, a typical pattern confirmed by rent evolution in the past years.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Renting in Oregon&#8217;s cities in June 2019<\/h3>\n<p>The average rent in Oregon&#8217;s largest cities is generally lower than the national average rent. The largest city, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/portland-or\/\">Portland<\/a>, has seen the third highest average rents, hitting\u00a0<strong>$1,528 <\/strong>in June, renters paying<strong> 1.2%<\/strong> more than they did in May.<\/p>\n<p>The fastest growing rents in June were in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/hillsboro-or\/\">Hillsboro<\/a>,\u00a0where rental apartment\u00a0prices increased by <strong>3%<\/strong> month over month, <strong>$46<\/strong> more per month.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/wilsonville-or\/\">Wilsonville<\/a> saw the second-highest monthly increase, jumping by <strong>2.5%<\/strong>, <strong>$36<\/strong> more expensive than in May. At the other end of the spectrum, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/springfield-or\/\">rents in Springfield<\/a> have decreased by <strong>0.1%<\/strong> (<strong>$1<\/strong>) compared to last month.<\/p>\n<p><script id=\"infogram_0_fbc5edda-4916-4816-9c15-0c5f694e9311\" title=\"Oregon - RentReport June\" src=\"https:\/\/e.infogram.com\/js\/dist\/embed.js?GoN\" type=\"text\/javascript\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Of the cities analyzed, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/lake-oswego-or\/\" rel=\"\">Lake Oswego apartments<\/a>\u00a0are the state&#8217;s most expensive for renters, with an average rent of <strong>$1,682<\/strong>, followed by apartments in <strong>Hillsboro<\/strong>, where the average monthly rent is <strong>$1,584<\/strong>. On the other hand, among\u00a0the cities analyzed, the cheapest city to rent an apartment in is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/salem-or\/\">Salem<\/a>, where the average apartment rent is <strong>$1,042<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Mid-year rent change in Oregon<\/h3>\n<p>Since the beginning of the year, there has been an increase in average rent in all of the cities in Oregon. The highest increase in rent can be seen in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/tualatin-or\/\">Tualatin<\/a>, where average rent went up by <strong>8.2%<\/strong>, or <strong>$108 <\/strong>in the first half of the year.
