Nationally, average rent prices reached $1,465 following a 3.2% annual increase and up 0.8% since last month \u2014 the highest monthly jump since May 2018. Compared to last June, renters pay $45 more on average according to the latest rent survey from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yardimatrix.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Yardi Matrix<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Since the beginning of the year, apartment rents have increased by 2.6% \u2013 that\u2019s an extra $37 added to the average monthly rent in six months. Rent increases during the first half of the year are typically more accelerated, whereas during the second half of the year they\u2019re expected to slow down, a typical pattern confirmed by rent evolution in the past years.<\/p>\n<h3>Renting in the Seattle Metro Area in June 2019<\/h3>\n<p>The average rent in Seattle Metro&#8217;s largest cities is generally higher than the national average rent. The fastest growing rents in June were in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/tukwila-wa\/\">Tukwila, WA<\/a>,\u00a0where rental apartment\u00a0prices increased by 7.7% month over month, $111 more per month. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/mukilteo-wa\/\">Mukilteo apartments<\/a> saw the second-highest monthly increase, jumping by 4.9%, $86 more expensive than last month. The slowest rising rents were in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/lakewood-wa\/\">Lakewood<\/a>,\u00a0where prices increased by 0.4% ($5) compared to May.<\/p>\n<p><script id=\"infogram_0_2bae88bd-a11e-4558-8b5c-f72c617a406c\" title=\"Seattle Metro - RentReport June\" src=\"https:\/\/e.infogram.com\/js\/dist\/embed.js?TlT\" type=\"text\/javascript\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Of the cities analyzed,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/bellevue-wa\/\">Bellevue apartments<\/a>\u00a0are the most expensive for renters, with an average rent of $2,322, followed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/issaquah-wa\/\">Issaquah<\/a>, where the average monthly rent is $2,305. On the other hand, the cheapest city to rent an apartment of the ones analyzed is\u00a0<strong>Lakewood<\/strong>, with an average apartment rent of $1,199.<\/p>\n<h3>Mid-year rent changes in Seattle Metro<\/h3>\n<p>In the first half of the year, there has been an increase in average rent in almost all of the cities in the Seattle Metro area. The highest increase in rent can be seen in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/mukilteo-wa\/\">Mukilteo<\/a>, where average rent went up by 10.9%, or $181. Following closely behind is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/redmond-wa\/\">Redmond<\/a> with a 8.2% increase in the first months of 2019, a value amount of $165.
