As part of the housing sector, Yardi and RentCafe are getting involved whenever there&#8217;s an elevated need for housing in the aftermath of natural disasters.<\/p>\n<p>In May 2016\u00a0RentCafe, in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alberta.ca\/release.cfm?xID=41788F39C7312-DC76-8FE1-3B0BB834FE7E93B7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">collaboration with the Government of Alberta, Canada<\/a>, launched a Centralized Housing Registry website to help residents who escaped the <strong>Fort McMurray wildfire<\/strong> find temporary or permanent housing. About 90,000 people were evacuated from their Fort McMurray homes and were in urgent need of housing aid. The online registry had over 100,000 page visits and has helped thousands of people find new homes. Local media has been instrumental in helping spread the word to as many people as possible. Media coverage by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/edmontonjournal.com\/news\/local-news\/online-housing-registry-launched-for-fort-mcmurray-fire-wildfire-evacuees\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Edmonton Journal<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/edmonton\/new-housing-registry-opens-for-fort-mcmurray-evacuees-1.3584689\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CBC News<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.metronews.ca\/news\/edmonton\/2016\/05\/16\/edmonton-announces-rental-registry-for-fort-mcmurray-.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Metro News<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/2704158\/edmonton-launches-online-housing-registry-for-fort-mcmurray-wildfire-evacuees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Global News<\/a>\u00a0and others helped make the initiative a tremendous success.<\/p>\n<p>In September 2017 a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/hurricaneharvey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hurricane Harvey Housing Registry<\/a> was created on\u00a0RentCafe to help the tens of thousands of people whose houses have been flooded and made uninhabitable by <strong>Hurricane Harvey<\/strong> find new temporary or permanent housing. About 230 properties with over 5,000 rental units were added to the registry since its inception and the web page has received close to 20,000 visits so far.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.chron.com\/business\/real-estate\/article\/Resources-for-Harvey-evacuees-looking-for-12191366.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Houston Chronicle<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/nlihc.org\/article\/updates-disaster-recovery-developments-last-week-s-memo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Low Income Housing Coalition<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/homebusinessmag.com\/lifestyles\/rentcafe-yardi-offer-housing-help-hurricane-harvey-evacuees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Home Business Magazine<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2017\/08\/28\/hurricane-harvey-relief-efforts-how-help\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Texas Tribune<\/a>\u00a0have helped us spread the news and make the process of finding a new place to live a lot easier for so many people in this time of crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly thereafter, in mid-September\u00a02017, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/hurricaneirma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hurricane Irma Housing Registry<\/a> was launched in response to the devastation created by <strong>Hurricane Irma<\/strong> in the state of Florida. This initiative along with the Harvey Housing Registry are still active. We encourage you to join in the effort by sharing with others the link (<em>https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/hurricaneirma<\/em>) to the Irma housing registry.<\/p>\n<p>The RentCafe Housing Registries allow property managers and landlords to list their available units, along with any special concessions they may offer, without paying a fee. Prospective renters can search the registry also free of charge, as they would otherwise on the\u00a0RentCafe website.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.yardi.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Yardi Systems, Inc.<\/a>, a software provider for the real estate investment management and property management industry, through its various divisions and products, maintains valuable client relationships with property managers, real estate owners, and investors, all the meanwhile proudly serving real estate consumers.
