Also forecast to see big jumps in rents? <a title=\"Dallas Apartments\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/dallas-tx\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dallas<\/a> \u2013 a surprising addition to the list that could see rents rise more than 7% just this year due to job growth in the area.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-41306\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/62\/2016\/04\/Rent-Forecast-2016.jpg\" alt=\"Apartment Rent Forecast 2016\" width=\"1205\" height=\"456\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/62\/2016\/04\/Rent-Forecast-2016.jpg 1205w, https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/62\/2016\/04\/Rent-Forecast-2016.jpg?resize=500,189 500w, https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/62\/2016\/04\/Rent-Forecast-2016.jpg?resize=768,291 768w, https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/62\/2016\/04\/Rent-Forecast-2016.jpg?resize=150,57 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1205px) 100vw, 1205px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Other highlights of last month\u2019s rental market include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Most of the slower rent markets remained on the East Coast and in the Midwest.<\/strong> <a title=\"Chicago Apartments\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/chicago-il\/\" target=\"_blank\">Chicago<\/a>, <a title=\"Apartments in Washington DC\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/washington2c-dc-dc\/\" target=\"_blank\">Washington D.C.<\/a>, <a title=\"Philadelphia Apartments\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/philadelphia-pa\/\" target=\"_blank\">Philadelphia<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/city-of-richmond-va\/\" target=\"_blank\">Richmond<\/a> and <a title=\"Kansas City Apartments\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/kansas-city-mo\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kansas City<\/a> all saw lower-than-average rent growth. <a title=\"Houston Apartments\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/houston-tx\/\" target=\"_blank\">Houston<\/a> also came in just under the average eight-year growth rate.<\/li>\n<li>While <strong>Portland saw the most year-over-year rent growth<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/seattle-wa\/\" target=\"_blank\">Seattle<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/sacramento-ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sacramento<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/phoenix-az\/\" target=\"_blank\">Phoenix<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/atlanta-ga\/\" target=\"_blank\">Atlanta<\/a> weren\u2019t far behind.
