While apartment rents remained unchanged in December &#8211; staying <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/blog\/apartment-search-2\/money\/november-brings-rents-to-a-halt-portland-still-the-leader-in-rent-growth\/\" target=\"_blank\">stagnant at $1,165 per month<\/a> \u2013 2015 saw a total rent growth of 6.4 percent year-over-year, <strong>the second highest increase we\u2019ve seen in the past decade<\/strong>. Though an expected <strong>335,000 units will be completed in 2016<\/strong>, the vacancy rate will likely remain low, due to this increased demand.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Northeast saw the least rent growth.\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/washington2c-dc-dc\/\" target=\"_blank\">Washington D.C.<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/baltimore-city-md\/\" target=\"_blank\">Baltimore<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/city-of-richmond-va\/\" target=\"_blank\">Richmond, Virginia<\/a>, all saw year-over-year rent growth at lower than the historical average.
