It\u2019s no surprise that Lincoln Park has become one of Chicago\u2019s most attractive residential neighborhoods over the last few decades. Lincoln Park is particularly popular among young, affluent families, but this diverse neighborhood offers something for everyone. DePaul University\u2019s campus is in the neighborhood, so there are plenty of restaurants, bars and shops that cater to a younger crowd as well. Historic architecture gives the neighborhood an elegant, timeless feel and residents have plenty of incredible amenities at their front door thanks to the area\u2019s namesake park.<\/p>\n

Where is Lincoln Park?<\/h2>\n

Lincoln Park is bordered by River North to the south, Lakeview to the north and Bucktown to the west. This central location means it\u2019s a quick commute to downtown or to many other popular neighborhoods in Chicago. The neighborhood is bordered by Lincoln Park and Lake Michigan to the east and the Chicago River to the west.<\/p>\n

History<\/h2>\n

One of the first things you\u2019ll notice when visiting Lincoln Park is its historic architecture. You\u2019ll find beautiful churches, hotels and residential buildings, some of which date back to the 19th century. When the Chicago area was first settled, Lincoln Park was not part of the city proper. This area was initially part of Lake View Township. As the area\u2019s population increased, the city of Chicago decided to annex the town and build Lincoln Park along Lake Michigan.<\/p>\n

During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the neighborhood saw a large influx of European immigrants. Its population continued to grow, but after the Great Depression and World War II, many historic buildings had fallen into disrepair. Local residents launched a campaign to preserve the neighborhood. This resulted in the neighborhood that we know today.<\/p>\n

Living in Lincoln Park<\/h2>\n

What To Do<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of the reasons why locals love living in Lincoln Park is because there\u2019s so much to do there. The namesake park is home to many of the city\u2019s most popular outdoor attractions. These include the Lincoln Park Zoo and the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. The North Avenue Beach is an excellent place to enjoy some sun in the summertime, and it also connects to the Lakefront Trail, which is popular for running, biking and rollerblading.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s also plenty of places to see theater and live music in the neighborhood. Kingston Mines, Lincoln Hall and Blues Bar are all excellent places to enjoy a live band and a drink. Theaters like the Steppenwolf, Apollo and Victory Gardens all host plays and other performances throughout the year. For those who enjoy shopping, Lincoln Park has an excellent mix of local boutiques and popular national retailers. In the summer, the Green City Market in the neighborhood sells fresh local produce.<\/p>\n

Where to Eat and Drink<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lincoln Park offers an excellent selection of places to eat and drink. Whether you\u2019re looking for an upscale dinner or just some casual snacks, there are plenty of options here. Most notably, Lincoln Park is home to Alinea, Chicago\u2019s only three-star Michelin restaurant.<\/p>\n
