Rents in the largest Wisconsin city saw a year-over-year increase of 2.1%, or $25, compared to this time last year and no change in rent compared to December.<\/p>\n<h3>Renting in Wisconsin in January 2020<\/h3>\n<p>The average rent in\u00a0Wisconsin cities is lower than the national average rent. The fastest-growing rents in January were in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/west-allis-wi\/\">West Allis<\/a>, where rental apartment\u00a0prices increased by 9.0% year over year, $85 more since last year. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/menomonee-falls-wi\/\">Menomonee Falls apartments<\/a>\u00a0saw the second highest annual increase, jumping by 6.0%, making them $74 more expensive than last year. In <strong>Verona<\/strong>, prices decreased by 0.5% ($6) compared to January last year.<\/p>\n<div style=\"max-width: 700px; margin: 0 auto;\"><script id=\"infogram_0_6dc5677f-aa01-4b22-868c-99edf780dc2e\" title=\"RentCafe_Wisconsin-RentReport-January2020\" src=\"https:\/\/e.infogram.com\/js\/dist\/embed.js?QRV\" type=\"text\/javascript\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/brookfield-wi\/\">Brookfield apartments<\/a>\u00a0are the state&#8217;s most expensive for renters, with an average rent of $1,476, followed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/apartments-for-rent\/wauwatosa-wi\/\">apartments in Wauwatosa<\/a>, where the average monthly rent is $1,349. On the other hand, the cheapest city to rent an apartment of the cities analyzed is <strong>Racine<\/strong>, with an average apartment rent of $818, being the only one under $1,000.<\/p>\n<h3>The January national average rent went up by 3% year-over-year<\/h3>\n<p>The average apartment rent reached $1,463 in January, up $43 since last year, according to apartment data from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yardimatrix.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yardi Matrix<\/a>.
