She still lives at home with her parents while also working a part-time job, so she can save money and invest in her future. Her primary investment goals are stocks, but she is also actively investing in her education.<\/p>\n<p>As a digital native, she spends her time socializing on Snapchat, TikTok, and Instagram, and she watches a lot of YouTube, which she uses for research and learning as well as entertainment. She likes to shop based on quality of product and affordability, to align with her financial goals and core values, and she is brand-loyal, being willing to spend more on a product from a brand that she knows.<\/p>\n<p><strong><div class=\" divider magee-divider magee-shortcode divider-ey7n3d divider divider-border double-line center\" id=\"\"><div class=\"divider-inner divider-border\"><\/div><\/div><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-125143\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rentcafe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/62\/2023\/02\/housing_icon.png\" alt=\"gen z and housing\" width=\"46\" height=\"43\" \/><a name=\"housing\"><\/a><strong>Generation Z &amp; The Housing Market<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Gen Z is already shaping key aspects of the housing market \u2014 from amenities catering to specific needs to redefining renting and homeownership.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Two thirds of Gen Zs live with their family<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>A 2023 analysis showed that two thirds of adults aged 18 to 24 lived with their parents. <a href=\"#_edn3\" name=\"_ednref3\">[3]<\/a> That\u2019s 68% of Gen Zs deciding not to live on their own. Essentially, this is a generation that\u2019s willing to delay their \u201cmove-out-of-the-parents\u2019-home\u201d date in order to save enough money and be able to live comfortably when they do go out on their own.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The largest share of Gen Zs that have left the nest are renters<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Of the Gen Zs who have left their family home, 80% are renters and 20% are owners. When looking at the population overall, about 2% of all U.S. homeowners are Gen Zs, whereas they make up 15% of all renters in the U.S. <a href=\"#_edn4\" name=\"_ednref4\">[4]<\/a> Of the Gen Z renters on the market, only 3.9% rent on their own, without roommates. <a href=\"#_edn5\" name=\"_ednref5\">[5]<\/a><\/p>\n<p><script id=\"infogram_0__\/MCDEzIyJhrQvQODnO59L\" title=\"Gen Z renters and owners\" src=\"https:\/\/e.infogram.com\/js\/dist\/embed.js?WwU\" type=\"text\/javascript\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Most Gen Zs spend under $1,500 on monthly rent<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><script id=\"infogram_0__\/zObvfvYUzO8eDvMWnojB\" title=\"Monthly amount Gen Zs spend on rent\" src=\"https:\/\/e.infogram.com\/js\/dist\/embed.js?5Hy\" type=\"text\/javascript\"><\/script>Of those who reported the cost of their rent on this survey, around 60% of Gen Zs spend under $1,500 per month on rent and 30% spend more than $1,500 on rent. <a href=\"#_edn6\" name=\"_ednref6\">[6]<\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>What are Gen Zs looking for in an apartment?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>According to a RentCafe survey <a href=\"#_edn7\" name=\"_ednref7\">[7]<\/a>, most Gen Z renters (71%) wanted a washer and dryer in their apartment.
