Time-Lapse Photos Track West Palm Beach’s Newest Projects

West Palm Beach is one of Florida’s most popular cities to live and to visit. Southeast Florida has been through multiple building booms and West Palm Beach is keeping up, protecting its reputation as a prime real estate spot in this part of the sunshine state, if not in the whole country.

In 1894 West Palm Beach became the first town to incorporate. Back then it was a part of South Florida’s Dade County. Today this area is best known for attracting celebrity real estate investors and for its lavish residential, shopping and entertainment districts including Clematis St. and City Place, PGA golf and the famous Peanut Island.

Together with Google Street View, we tracked WPB’s newest developments and innovative designs, from a brand new athletics and fine arts center to new downtown apartment projects. Hold and slide the arrow left and right to see the amazing before and after images:

1. Hyatt Place West – Downtown

Year completed: 2009

West Palm Beach’s new Hyatt took over a prime corner lot of downtown and sports a modern twist on Florida’s famous Art Deco signature design. Inside are 165 guest rooms boasting the Hyatt Place luxury touch. At night the 6-story building lights up with a giant blue accent feature.

Year completed: 2016

The 400-room Hilton Hotel located at 600 Okeechobee Blvd is considered a critical, much-needed addition to the Palm Beach County Convention Center to which it is connected by a covered walkway. After years of delays, the project was finally developed by Related Cos who covered most of the bill, except for $27 million in subsidies received from the county. The Related Companies, headed by Miami Dophins’ owner Stephen Ross, is also known for developing the Hudson Yards in New York City. The hotel features a contemporary design that incorporates nautical accents and 1,300 pieces of artwork.
