Freaky fun for Friday the 13th

Black cat for Friday the 13th.

Black cat for Friday the 13th.If you’re the superstitious type, you may not want to test fate by pulling out all the stops for a celebration of bad luck on Friday the 13th. In fact, you’re probably cowering under the covers right now, afraid that the broken glass and black cats are canvassing at your apartment door just because you clicked on this link. Bwa-ha-ha. (That’s our evil sounding laugh of doom.)

Make your own luck this Friday with one of our fun party and prank ideas. Great for the office, home, or perfect strangers on the bus!

Say it 13 times: People who have a fear of Friday the 13th are inflicted with “friggatriskaidekaphobia” (say frigga-trisk-aid-eke-phobia). Can you say that 13 times fast? The name comes from Frigga, the Norse goddess of Friday, and triskaidekaphobia, which for whatever reason means fear of the number thirteen. It’s Greek to me! No, really, it’s actually Greek.

Start something new and important: Invite all your friends over to help you paint your house or start a remodeling apartment project. Tradition says it’s unlucky to undertake a major undertaking on this day, so throw caution to the wind and get something done!

Take a Spanish lesson: They don’t care about Friday the thirteenth, so you have nothing to worry about. But Tuesday the 13th, that’s the day you need to be afraid of!

Find a thirteenth floor or building with 13 stories, and throw a party up there. Finding only high-rises that skip the number thirteen? Scaredy-cats. Hit up the 14th floor instead, because, let’s face it – It’s the 13th floor no matter how you slice it!

Have a great Friday, and watch out for ink-black kitties, they can really put a downer on your whole year. By the way, in 2012 we’ll have two more Friday the 13ths – in April and July, so this just could be the unluckiest year of all.
