Austin is one hot location: booming job market, especially in IT fields; remarkable quality of life; and a thriving cultural scene. The average rent reported by Yardi Matrix, $1,244, can get you some great apartments in Austin; however, if you find yourself looking outside the limits of “Bat City”, we’re here to help with some great suggestions — of both suburbs and apartment communities.

So if your ideal home can accommodate a 30-minute drive to downtown Austin, check out these four popular suburbs and some handpicked rental communities:

Cedar Park

Commute time to downtown Austin: 30 minutes (23.8 mi)
Best find: Bexley at Silverado, from $850 for a 1-bed, 1-bath to $1,317 for a 3-bed, 2 bath apartment (check availability)
Perks: designer appliances; resort-style pool and hot tub, fitness center; Starbucks coffee bar; car care center; four grilling areas

Located in Williamson County, the Hill Country city of Cedar Park is known for its community events, like the Cedar Fest BBQ Cook-Off, and the variety of sports and entertainment options offered by the Cedar Park Center.

Conveniently located near a wide range of shopping and dining options, Bexley at Silverado will quickly rise to the top of the list for those looking for superior amenities within a 30-minute commute of downtown Austin.

Pflugerville (by the way, the “p” is silent!) is just north of Austin, making it a popular hometown among commuters who prefer to live outside the city.  The city proudly celebrates its German heritage with the annual Deutschen Pfest, while Lake Pflugerville is a popular attraction for joggers, swimmers, and kayakers.

1825 Place has something to offer for everyone; with ten different floor plans to choose from, the community is less than 20 miles from the heart of Austin.
