Love My Home

I have lived here for just over two years. It has been a great experience, particularly the communal attitude of our (almost) live-in super Jorge. He is wonderful, always around with a friendly smile but never ever overbearing. I love how he and other neighborhood supers all hang out together as genuine friends - looking out for one another and for us. I am so lucky and grateful to have someone who is local, who cares and is always there for me in a bind, able to fix this or that within hours, if not minutes. The (first) time I locked myself out of my apartment, I felt so bad for having to bother him because he was in Queens visiting family. I was fully prepared to just wait it out, but without a beat he had his friend from the neighboring building stop by in minutes to help me out! I cannot state how much better it is to have him and not some corporate management system, no matter how high-tech or "efficient". The building itself is very charming, although I'm biased because I prefer lived-in over shiny and new. I can't speak for other tenants or their preferences, but I am very happy with my unit. It isn't fancy, but everything works. Clearly they didn't pick just whatever was the absolute cheapest, or try to distract renters from shoddy details with flashy appliances like they tend to in new constructions. Also, it comes through in the areas that really make a difference to me: like a washer/dryer in the building, the buzzer actually works, decent wood flooring, high ceilings and windows help the relatively small place breath... also I really do appreciate that even though the bathroom is quite literally the smallest I've ever seen, whoever did the layout was able to fit a perfectly well-sized tub and space for storage! Location is also great, close enough to fun places but off the main jag so still calm and quiet when you need it. Far from the subway, but it's Manhattan - I walk to most places. Overall, I love it here. If I could buy the unit I would!
