Modest Living with Character

Overall, the experience at these apartments has been pleasant. The neighbors are generally quiet and respectful, and it is a nicely unique experience seeing the neighbor cats roaming about. The apartments themselves are so-so. They have great character, and a decent size for the cost (though the recent rent increase is a bit of a sudden shock and decreases their affordability factor a little). The pantry size and overall storage space is really nice! Also keep in mind that there are no in-unit washer/dryers, so that makes the increase rent a little less reasonable as well. The condition of the units and buildings is more concerning, with issues like warped floors (is the structure sound or just old?), damaged doors, and leaky faucets. However, staff is nice and maintenance concerns were addressed timely. While the neighbors are generally quiet, the soundproofing of the units is poor, with frequent floor creaks, bumps, etc. The layout of some units is also strange with the kitchen and living room of one unit being built next to the bedrooms of the neighbor unit, meaning late-night kitchen or TV watching might be heard by neighbors trying to sleep. The free-hanging closet doors that bump together is also a bother. Efficiency of the buildings is also a concern, because utilities seem high for units of this size. I have noticed that with the thermostat set to 71 and outside temperature below 70, the air conditioning will still run frequently throughout the night - perhaps the basement generates a lot of heat? While there are some issues, these are generally decent apartments worth renting if you are looking for a relatively quite living experience with a bit of character.

Was worth it

I really enjoyed living here and wanted to continue but got priced out. Rent hike with no improvements of units. Very quiet, older units. Coin laundry in basement, utilities not included (except internet), no dishwasher. It is very charming though and wish I could stay:(

Not worth the price

I have lived here for five years, but new owners took over last year. They have raised rent once and will be doing it again (to $850 for a two bedroom). These places are very old and honestly were worth the price at $575 a month (which was what my rent was under the old landlord) but there is no way I would ever pay $850 for this place at all. The new landlord sends emails in all caps, does not communicate when work will be done on the apartment with much notice, and is not accommodating. I would not live here anymore at the price. There are much nicer places for the same price. It is such a shame because the location was great and the previous landlord was amazing to work with.

Very easy to fill out.

I've lived here since 1990 and love the location & the tenants are all quiet & no drama. The landlords have all been top notch & very helpful with getting any issues resolved.
