Rent is too high for space,county and low income standards
In August 2023, I applied for an apartment at a rate of $450 a month at Cavalier Green one of your sister complexes here in Owosso area. The manager at that time told me I could come see it the following Monday as I was transferring to Michigan from Atlanta, Georgia. When I arrived, she had already rented out the apartment, leaving me with nowhere to live. She suggested I go to Lincoln house. They had one available. I applied for the apartment assuming it was the same rental price as she knew what I could afford being on Social Security. I was approved for the apartment and then told the rent was $792 , which was way above the price I could afford receiving only 930 for monthly income. I had no choice but to take the apartment I have since been informed there are apartments available at either Cavalier Green, or here at Lincoln house for much less for the same one bedroom apartment , but that I was not allowed to switch to a more affordable place within the building. I find this very unfair considering I was forced into the apartment that is barely affordable on my income. I request to be moved to the lower income apartment at either Cavalier Green or Lincoln house Consider this my formal request. Thank you.
