Parking and miscellaneous

Overall, I really enjoy living at Ferndalehaus. The apartment is beautiful, I love having a gym at the facility, and I can't hear my next door neighbors at all and can only slightly hear my upstairs neighbors which is great. I used to live in an older apartment building where you could hear neighbors 24/7 so I really appreciate how the noise level is so much better here. The only issue I have is that on at least 3 occasions I've had people park in my parking spot for extended periods of time. Definitely not the fault of the property, but I'm just wondering if there could be some sort of system in place to take care of this more quickly. Maybe there is a way residents can send an email or text alert to the whole building to ask to have the car moved? That way we can avoid towing people.

Good so Far

Pros: The rooms are very nice and the location is amazing. The gym has a good amount of equipment and the community area/rooftop patio on the 5th floor is cute. Cons: Parking and wifi are pricey and the walls are a little thin.

Good! But rough around the edges

Noise - dogs barking can be bothersome. Not a huge deal though. However, there was one night there was a "domestic dispute" in the unit above me (it did not get violent so I did not call 911). However, it was extremely loud, to the point that it sounded like it was going on in my unit. So overall, I wish it was more soundproof. Also in regards to maintenance - all the issues I have had have been only partially fixed - I still cannot tell if the leak in my apartment has been fixed. Also the repair of the vent cover above my stove was not very nice. While these sound like bad complaints, I overall like Ferndalhaus! The staff is helpful and the location and amenities are great. It's just a little rough around the edges.

Review

Brian is awesome. Clearly goes above and beyond for all tenants to meet their needs as best as possible. However, this Building had tenants moving in far too early, as obvious construction was still going on. I still have never been contacted or compensated for the cement being stuck to the floor of my shower for the first week I lived here (cement from building... my bathroom had NEVER been cleaned after construction), along with many additional issues. I thought it would be somewhat concerning to building management that I was not able to use my own bathroom for the first week of living here, yet Michelle could not have shown less care. Another issue is that my blinds only go all the way up or all the way down, an issue I made Michelle aware of shortly after moving in in August... it is now January and nothing has been done. Additionally, many issues within the building are often ignored or hidden by the property management company. Fire alarm goes off at 11:30PM and building doesn’t even send an email the next day with explanation. I’ve lived in multiple new construction apartments/buildings before, and none have lacked the professionalism and courteousness that FerndaleHaus does. This building is far from being worth what the rent cost is - I see a new sign everyday in the elevators or online offering discounts on rent, deals on rent, even free rent for 1-2 months to lease an apartment... yet I was one of the first people to move into this building in august and was not offered any discounted rate, and was also denied a parking space until I refused to sign the lease unless I had a parking space. I had no intention on leaving This review until I went to pay my rent and it popped up - this building has a long way to go before it can get 5 stars.
