First Apartment

After 2 years of living at this apartment complex, I can say that it was about what I expected apartment life to be. My neighbors and I always did our best not to be too loud, which was easy to avoid due to the relatively thick walls. However, I did not expect the strict and restrictive payment options at Colony Bay. Though I did get most of my payment issues resolved, it always felt like I had to fight for every bit of leniency and prove my case beyond a shadow of a doubt. The late fees and overdraft charges are also ridiculous. I'll never understand how/why making someone who doesn't have enough money for what they want/need pay MORE than normal. Additionally, the maintenance is sub-par. My refrigerator leaked for the entire time I was there despite having the maintenance staff look at it twice. Their choice of roof repair crews is questionable and is obnoxiously loud on the 4th floor. I'd also recommend going to a laundromat instead of using the on-site laundry. Next to nobody cleans out the dryer lint after themselves, the machines sound like they'r ready to fall apart or simply quit at any moment, and each load of laundry costs $3.00 ($1.50 for wash & dry cycle). If it's really going to cost me $3 for ONE set of laundry, I'll at least go to somewhere that's kept cleaner than those rooms in the complex. The only good thing about Colony Bay is its proximity to Jefferson Point and Lutheran Hospital. If you know the area, you could almost walk anywhere you'd want to go. With the rent going up, I'd definitely say the negatives outweigh the positives. If you can, skip this complex. I don't see them lasting much longer with these business practices.

First apartment and loving it!

The apartment building and our apartment itself is very nice and well maintained considering how old it is. The staff and maintenance are very nice and helpful. I put a maintenance request in and they come right away. Only have to pay electric which is a definite plus. Honestly, you won't find a place nicer than this for the price range it offers. Noise is not an issue, other than the trash removal wakes us up every Friday morning but that's just because our specific apartment is right above the service doors which is understandable. The only small complaint I have is the washer and dryers are a bit too pricey to use, but other than that this is a great value at a great price!
