Solid Experience

I've rented from Wirtz for 6+ years as of now in three apartments in two separate buildings. Each experience has been pleasant and the apartments have been great. I've rented from far worse agencies.

Apartment is pretty good, dislike the staff

Overall, the apartment is pretty good, except for the warped walls, overpainted doors that don't close sometimes, and the cracked floorboards. I've had almost nothing but bad experiences with the staff. First, the realtor, Anthony Cwan, was terrible at communicating with us about the process of our application and did not ensure issues with the apartment were fixed upon moving (the toilet was clogged from somebody else, drawers were broken, adhesives were left by past residents on the cabinets, the sink was leaking, and etc.). Hasan, the previous maintenance person was amazing at fixing these things and was the one good experience with staff/maintenance. We've had several issues over the past few months were we filed a maintenance request and it was resolved on the portal without telling us a) if the person even came to fix it and b) if it was resolved or not. Because of this, we had to file several maintenance requests to get some things fixed. When they changed the locks on the back door, the maintenance person didn't respond to my messages when I asked for a new key and there was little communication with residents about that change and the maintenance staff didn't seem to know what was going on either. Additionally, I was locked out of my apartment recently and the emergency line wasn't functioning at all and the maintenance person was on vacation, so I was left to figured out how to get in on my own way, which is absolutely ridiculous. We've had so many issues with staff and maintenance that we don't recommend Wirtz reality to any of our friends. It just seems that the company cares more about making money than the quality of the apartments or the satisfaction of residents.

Wirtz Building

This review is for a Wirtz renal property in SE Evanston. Our building is located on a quiet, residential street. Street parking is plentiful. Although the building is quite old, the apts are updated with nice appliances. Our appliances are all new, kitchen has granite countertops and we have an in-unit washer/dryer. Our neighbors in the building are quiet, for the most part; some are retirees while there are a few young families. The staff is responsive although the building manager for our building no longer lives on site.
