Brookland Press takes it’s inspiration from the industrial era printing press, and pays homage to the artisans and craftsmen of Brookland’s early days. With two distinct buildings, The Foundry and The Forge, you’ll have your choice of tastefully designed studio, one, and two bedroom residences with an unparalleled list of amenities for workdays and weekends alike. THE FOUNDRY- With a new 2-story addition, the original 3 & 4-story industrial warehouse was converted to a 157-unit residential building now called The Foundry. Inspired in part by the existing historic elements from the previous structure, The Foundry’s lofted ceilings, concrete columns and floors, and dramatic floor to ceiling windows create a vintage living experience rooted in texture and space unlike any found in the neighborhood. THE FORGE- In juxtaposition to its sister building, The Forge is a brand new 6-story structure with 139 residences, featuring a wholly modern feel. With engineered wood floors and industrial fixtures and finishes, The Forge brings a modern sensibility to Brookland Press. The building’s exterior speaks to the former industrial uses across the site by incorporating brick with accents of stone and metal panels, while offering a warmer palette of textures and colors throughout. Check out our website today: http://www.brooklandpress.com/  Pursuant to the District of Columbia Inclusionary Zoning program, income restricted units are available at this development. Please contact the Department of Housing and Community Development at www.dhcd.dc.gov regarding the availability of such units and requirements for registration in the Inclusionary Zoning program.

Perfect Place in DC

I was born and raised in Brookland, DC. This place is perfect! Directly across the street from the metro, in the middle of all the "hot" spots. What more could you ask for. Not to mention, the staff is amazing!

You can hear your neighbors do EVERYTHING. Paper thin walls!

Ever since moving here, I have not been able to get sleep. I have a construction background & can tell you the walls weren't properly built, thus making the units uninhabitable. I can hear my neighbors' conversation word for word. I can hear my neighbors snore, burp, cough, sneeze, be intimate, make breakfast, eat dinner, wash their dishes, and opening and shutting their cupboards. I can also hear my neighbor's fight, babies crying and dogs howling and barking throughout the day and night. As I write this, I'm listening to my neighbor's kid watch Mickey Mouse on Netflix. I feel like I'm in the same room as my neighbors whenever they're home because I can hear everything through the walls. Furthermore, if your bedroom is next to the hall, good luck EVER getting sleep. You can hear the elevators and people walk down the hallways, talking throughout the evening. We have a den next to the hallways so this is coming from first hand experience. My bedroom shares a wall with my neighbor's bedroom which means it feels like I'm in the same room every time they are intimate- it's a violating feeling. Absolutely no privacy. I have documented these sound issues regularly to Brookland Press & they got their attorney involved. Their only solution to the sound issue was to paint the walls. Which did not work. I bought ear plugs that are supposed to decrease sound by 32 decibels & I can still hear my neighbors. After trying to work with the property and giving them solutions to fix the noise problem within the walls to no avail, I now have to move out. This property is not in a safe area. Homeless people have laid their hands on me & started screaming at us as we've minded our own business on our way to the metro. These incidents occurred right outside Brookland Press during the day. Currently, I live in apartment 312 in the Foundry which is available in May 2020. Avoid at all costs.
