Cheryl on Jun 15, 2020My husband and I moved here the year 2015. My husband is retired our children are all grown. We have four grand kids soon to be five. We love living here. It just gets better and better! We call this our condo not our apt. Lol. There is never any noise in our building. No traffic of folks coming in or going out. Your neighbors speak. Whenever we had a maintenance problem which was rare they will come right out and handle the issue the staff is wonderful nothing has changed they treat you like family. I love the scenery flowers the birds the landscape is beautiful it's so clean and peaceful here. I love that they have events for family and friends. My grandkids love to come their events. Hotdogs popcorn all kinds of snacks and games for the kids along with the blow up bounce's raffles... Folks have acutally won tv's and if you have a pet they have something for pets too! This is really a good place to live. Wonderful location shopping center ,mall. Cvs right here at us which is great for us to pick up our prescriptions. There's Restaurants and a Park near by. I also love that they have security on patrol at night. I also like sitting out on my patio and watching the birds in the morning. its so quiet and peaceful. Or I can sit by the pool or have a picnic with my family. I remember when my grandsons were around three or four we would go on nature walks ... I called it nature walks they would see the birds and squirrels . We even saw a little rabbit! they learned to count by counting the trees. After the walk it was time for lunch and a nap for all of us. lol when their that young you gotta have have something for them to do It really is beautiful here. Another one of my reasons for living here is before we sold our home my husband was mr. Fix it well that never worked out so good. I remember when I asked him to put up a medicine cabinet in the bathroom I don't know how he put a nail straight into the other wall?? this is such a nice place to live

Overall, apartment is nice. However, heat is loud in bedroom, fridge style is out-of-date, floors are uneven, and there is no additional storage space/locker.

I've lived at 35W for more than 4 years. PROs Great location Modern & well maintained Responsive service staff CONs It's SO LOUD. While I rarely hear other tenants, the work at the Bedrock construction site is torture at times. It's a major inconvenience for those that WFH and Bedrock raises rents instead of insisting they not start work until 8am or giving tenants a break on increases. There is zero bike storage and you cannot use another Bedrock building. You will have a very hard time fitting your bike in the tiny elevator. Speaking of which - they modified the elevator after I moved in. Be very careful before assuming your furniture will fit. I wanted to move a couch out of my place and it's not very bulky. We had to carry it down 9 flights of stairs.
Laurie M. on May 17, 2020I absolutely love living at 35W. The building is very well designed and maintained and I feel safe here. The staff is on their game and very kind. I love the Capitol Park location. However, it is LOUD beyond belief. It's not just the garbage pick ups super early in the morning - the constant beeping that comes from the truck or the dumpsters that get dropped loudly one after another - often around 6AM. Lately, it's the unbearably loud motorcycles and loud music coming from vehicles speeding up and down Woodward and on weekends it can last until or after midnight. It's also the construction which I'll forgive since it's great to see the city being rebuilt. But I've been listening to a loud, piercing, high pitched beep out my window for an hour so far. Other cities like Boston enforce noise ordinances. If Detroit wants to attract residents it will need the funds to do so. I'd rather not keep my windows shut all summer but it's coming to that point. Still, if you're willing to put up with the noise and want to live in the great city of Detroit, I'd highly recommend checking out 35W.
